DAREBEE is a crowd-funded non-profit resource. What this means is that we don’t ourselves have the money to run it, we don’t have sponsors or big companies investing in our efforts nor do we have product placement or ads here. Everything you see is provided free of charge and in its entirety. This website and all of the work that goes into it are supported exclusively by its users - it is the only source of funds for DAREBEE.
And here is why:
Accessibility for everyone is what lies at the core of this place. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you are from, what your circumstances are - you will find help here. We remove all of the barriers and hoops you would normally have to jump through to get to the information you need. Everything is freely provided here because we believe that by doing so we make a difference for many people all across the globe, we have a positive impact and we help make the world a better place. We help people who support us and we help those who are unable to give anything in any way, equally.
We don’t have ads because it allows us to stay loyal to you, our audience, and your needs. Since we don’t need to get as many hits as humanly possible to generate page views and sell ad space or attract sponsorship we only cover subjects that we feel are of value. We refuse to turn people into numbers and what we do here is guided by a single motive: to be of practical use, to help those who want to get fit and healthy without feeling pressured, shamed or judged.
Our approach enables us to focus on content and the effectiveness of the information provided. Just because everything here is free, it doesn’t mean it should be low quality or done half-right. We spend weeks researching, creating and testing our materials and then make it all available here with no strings attached. Our funding and our future depend upon delivering value to you.
This also means that you decide whether we stay up tomorrow, a week or ten years from now. You decide whether it’s worth keeping something like DAREBEE up on the web. We want you, and you alone, to be able to decide that.
When you support DAREBEE you also support everything DAREBEE stands for. You don’t just support it for yourself, you also support it for all those who are unable to.
DAREBEE Finances In a Nutshell
DAREBEE is a crowd-funded website which means that all the funds we raise go back into the resource.
Every month DAREBEE pays:
- Salaries;
- Rent and utility bills;
- Hosting fees;
- Software licenses;
- Printing house fees;
- Backup and server security fees;
Every now and then we need to be able to cover hardware repair and replacement. We also pay for additional programming and any work that cannot be done in-house. Anything we cannot do ourselves is outsourced and has to be paid for.
Throughout the years we’ve been able to adjust and adapt to the rising costs of running this place. Because of everyone contributing to the project we’ve been able to continue to exist. The existence of DAREBEE is a social contract. People who can contribute - do so. They also contribute for those who are unable to give anything but need access to this service. Every donation makes a difference not just to us but to everyone using this website.
What can I do to help?
Donating what you can is the fastest and the most direct way to help us stay up and continue developing. There are several ways to donate to DAREBEE.
One is to donate directly through PayPal, an online payment system. If you go to our “SUPPORT” page you will see the options there. Once you click on either it will redirect you to PayPal where you can enter your details. You don’t have to have an account with PayPal, you can donate using a debit or a credit card, PayPal simply processes the payment. We don’t see any of your details nor do we store them or have access to them in any way, they are all securely processed by PayPal - one of the most secure ways to pay online. If you don't like PayPal or you are having issues with it (it's not available for all countries), you can use DonorBox. It works exactly the same way PayPal does.
Another option is to use a direct bank transfer. Our bank details are listed on our "SUPPORT" page.
In addition to direct methods we have books and apps you can purchase. None of the materials in either is any different from the materials already available here for free but it gives you an alternative way to donate to the resource if PayPal, Donorbox or crypto is not for you.
You can buy a book (all books from DAREBEE are listed here) from any local bookstore or Amazon. The prices for the books are set by the bookstores, we don’t control them. You pay production cost, store fees & shipping - DAREBEE makes $1 from each sale. It’s more expensive to buy a book and only a dollar goes back into the project but you get to own an actual DAREBEE book. Our books make nice gifts - and help more people discover DAREBEE offline.
Our apps are all free but you can always buy a paid version of the same one - we make roughly $0.50 from each one.
I already donated, what else can I do?
You can help us even more by telling other people about us. The more people know about DAREBEE, the higher our chances to make it through the week, month, year. With every donation you vote for DAREBEE, and resources like DAREBEE, to be part of the internet of tomorrow. You decide whether we will be here a year or 10 years from now. You decide whether we vanish or stay and develop further. Your vote counts and it matters and with enough people casting theirs it will make a difference.
The more people find DAREBEE, the higher chances the resource has to make it and grow. Apart from telling your friends and family about it you can also help us spread the word through social media (Twitter, Pinterest & Facebook) and take a moment to leave a review on any of our apps or books. Highly rated apps and books allow more people to see them and find out about us. It will take you about a couple of minutes to leave feedback but it will mean a more secure future for the DAREBEE resource.
Thank you so much for supporting the resource and for making this place possible!
People who make this place happen volunteer their time and effort because of the effect it has. We believe that even small efforts, applied consistently can bring about a big change in the world and help make a difference on a global scale. All effort, no matter how small, can influence that change and we all contribute to that - what we can, whenever we can – so we can all see a better tomorrow.
As much as we try, though, there are still things we can’t do or simply can’t find any spare resources or manpower to cover and that’s why we ask for your help. You are not limited to just those options, the list below is designed to give you a few ideas on areas where we could really use your help.
How you can help
Spread the word. Although you can find our posters in every corner of the web very few people know where they come from, what DAREBEE is and what it stands for. We don’t actively promote ourselves and we don’t insist on link-backs so we are still fairly unknown. Mentioning DAREBEE anywhere online or offline can help this resource develop and grow, even if it’s just a tweet, a blog post or a printout left somewhere it can be noticed. The more people know about us the more likely we are to stay up and continue our work.
Report bugs and inconsistencies. We do try very hard to keep the quality of everything DAREBEE does high but bugs and typos do happen, especially if someone is pulling a 48 hour shift. So if you see a wrong exercise name to a picture or a broken link or anything of the sort please report it to us here - we usually fix it within 24 hours if not right away.
Help others in the Hive, the DAREBEE community. Since we have very limited manpower when it comes to running and maintaining the resource all of the help and support is handled through our forum (The Hive). It is a global fitness community as well as our official help desk – DAREBEE team members, experienced DAREBEES and even newBEES who know their way around our workouts and programs help those who are unfamiliar with our set-up or just need to a bit of guidance there. It doesn’t matter how experienced you are, how long you have been with DAREBEE or how many programs you have completed – you might be able to help someone by just being there and cheering them on. We support each other in every way we can in the Hive.
Multilingual Support. Not everyone who comes here speaks English and although we would love to have a multilingual resource it is impossible at this time. Since the resource is updated daily (sometimes hourly) it would have to be done for all languages in real time and that’s a full time job that requires a lot of commitment. Eventually we are hoping to get to a point when it’ll be possible for us to have people on-board who are able to handle this responsibility but for now we have sections in the Hive for that. We currently have French and Spanish language support there for anyone who needs help. If you feel it’s something you can do for your native language – please reach out to us through the Hive.
Share your expertise. We are always looking for different ways to train, find new and exciting ways to stay active but we don’t always have the experience required to cover a particular subject. If you are an expert in a particular training field e.g., weapon’s and sword training, yoga, injury rehabilitation, dance or a specific sport we would love to have you on-board and add your knowledge to DAREBEE available resources whether it’s articles or posters. It is all volunteer work and there is no money or glory in it but you will be contributing to something that will become part of the web and part of history, and it will help a lot of people all over the world.
Help us with programming. Functionality-wise we are extremely limited and we can rarely modify any code to make the overall experience better so if it’s something you can help us with it’ll be greatly appreciated not just by us but by everyone using this resource on a regular basis. We won’t take up too much of your time, mostly we just need small things like improving the timers and adding small usability improvements compatible with our two systems: Joomla & vBulletin 5 Board. If it is something you can lend us a hand with, please, contact us here.
Note: we are not currently looking to develop a mobile app because it will require regular support and maintenance as well as regular updates and we can’t spare any resources for that at the moment. When we will be able to develop a mobile application for DAREBEE it will be free and ad-free just like this website. For now, we tried to make this place as mobile friendly as possible.
Consider donating. And of course, donations is what keeps the lights on. Nothing exists in a vacuum and we are no exception. Since we don’t have ads or products here and we don’t accept sponsorships from companies, donations is DAREBEE’s only source of income. Although it is a very popular place not everyone can or will donate - very few people do, so if you can spare anything it will be greatly appreciated.
Places like DAREBEE shouldn’t be able to exist, shouldn’t be able to survive in the world driven and guided by profit but we are still here and still kicking... quite literally sometimes. You can help us build this place, make it better and watch it grow. Whatever you choose to do it will make a difference.
DAREBEE Team
The DAREBEE community is a place where everyone fits in. Once you join you are one of us, you are part of the family. We will welcome you in, encourage you, show you around and help you in any way we can. We are all united by the same goal – we all want a better quality of life and a straightforward approach to fitness. We don’t compete with each other and we don’t judge – we celebrate your achievements and cheer you on no matter what you do and how you choose to train.
We are all equal here, no one is above anyone else and everyone’s opinion matters. We look for new ways to train, stay accountable and motivated. It’s a safe place for anyone looking for a friendly environment to bounce ideas around and stay on track.
The community is truly global and it has no borders – it doesn’t matter where you are from, whether English is your first language or how well you can express yourself. If we can understand you it’s good enough for us. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first time training or whether you have 20 years of training experience either - we all learn from each other and see where we can improve, together.
Here is a quick road map to get you started with the DAREBEE community:
Joining. The registration process is fairly quick and straightforward but we do require email verification so you need to use a valid email address. We will never send you any unwanted emails or pass on your details to anyone (we don’t even look at those ourselves), this is done to prevent spam – and only for that reason. Once you are registered and verified you are one of us. You can fill-in your profile at any time later on, you can now join any discussions or start your own.
Introduction, the ultimate ice-breaker. You can start a new topic in the Chat Room right away and introduce yourself. Tell us a little bit about yourself – where you are from, what training you are doing, your hobbies and interests – whatever you feel comfortable sharing, along with any questions you might have. It’ll give you the opportunity to meet some of the members and also get a feel of the community. It gives us a chance to welcome you as an official initiation of sorts.
Checking in section is for check-ins. Every topic there is a micro-blog and a training log, you can use it to track your progress, stay accountable and motivated. Just start a new one, give it a cool name and keep logging. Whenever you start a new program or a new type of training you can begin a new one. Eventually, you can even agree to do a program together with someone and share a topic. It’s always a lot of fun. It’s also a great section to see how others are doing with programs you are thinking of trying if you haven’t made your decision yet and would like some feedback.
Questions & Help Our community is also our official support line. All training and “instructions unclear” questions are addressed there. You don’t need to worry about saying the wrong thing or making a mistake – there are no silly questions here. And someone will always come to your aid when you have any or when you just need someone to point you in the right direction. All questions are welcome whether it’s further explanation of materials published on the DAREBEE resource or a specific problem. If you tell us a little bit about yourself, your goals and your circumstances we will help you pick the right program or a training plan. Make sure you create a new topic and give us as much detail as possible and someone will help, DAREBEE team or experienced members of our community.
Feedback & Suggestions. DAREBEE is a people’s project. We vote and discuss any major (and sometimes minor) changes to the resource. We are all responsible for this resource in many ways and everyone’s opinion matters here. That’s why we keep suggestions and feedback public. Something important will be easily picked up on if it comes up repeatedly or if other DAREBEES boost it up or vote for the idea. If something requires further discussion, we bring it up again.
This is also where you can report bugs and typos or any other inconsistencies on the website. Report when something isn’t working or there is a feature you would like us to implement or the type of topic you would like us to cover next. If you see a “like” from a DAREBEE team member on your proposal it means we have seen it and we will take it on board even if we didn’t respond to the thread (we are not always able to, due to pressure of time).
News and Announcements. We don’t have comments on the resource because we want to keep it clean and light, and as accessible as possible on all devices. So all the comments and discussions, in case you would like to be more informed and more involved with what’s going on with DAREBEE, are happening in the community. We post any news, future releases announcements and just important notices in the News section.
Should I join? If you are using DAREBEE workouts on a regular basis it is generally a good idea to join the community simply because you can then ask questions whenever you have any and get help from people who have already been through the programs and workouts you are doing. You don’t need to be part of the community unless you want to – we keep the help desk and support public like this so we can all learn from questions and answers – and also provide support faster.
The DAREBEE community is not just about fitness, it is also a place where like-minded people meet and have fun. There are no conditions or strings attached to any of this, it’s just a safe place where you can login and be surrounded by people on the same path. We all come from different cultures, we all have different backgrounds and yet we all come together in the forums and hang out.
You are more than welcome to join our merry band and buzz along.
Welcome to DAREBEE, an independent global fitness resource. DAREBEE is a non-profit and also an ad-free and product placement-free website. All of the information here has been thoroughly researched and tested and provided free of charge. You can download and print anything – everything is provided in its entirety with no strings attached.
Here is a quick guide to get you started with the resource:
The Manual
Look through the manual - you will only need to do it once to be able to easily navigate every single DAREBEE routine. It will show you how to read the posters, explain what reps and sets are and how to count them. It's just one page, it has pictures (everything here does) and it will save you a lot of deciphering in the future. Once you know the basics you can move on to the next step and take action!
Programs
If you are new to DAREBEE training system it is usually a good idea to start with a single program. It will give structure to your training and will also provide you with an idea of the load and how well you can handle it. There are no official rest days in our programs but they are all very carefully balanced so you recover on the go, some days are a lot easier than others and the other way around. For daily training programs are easier than most of our individual workouts which are slightly more intense due to their standalone nature. Here is how to pick a program.
Individual Workouts
You can create your own weekly plan from our individual workouts (use the filter to sort) by picking ones that appeal to you or use an existing weekly plan from the selection here.
If you’re creating your own weekly plan pick 3-5 daily workouts per week and rotate them to keep your body guessing for better results. The daily workouts collection grows daily so you will always have something new and fresh to try. You can pick workouts at random or you can focus on something specific using a filter at the bottom of the page. You can filter workouts by type, theme, focus and equipment.
We often update and revise existing routines based on workshops’ and users’ feedback. If you found a routine elsewhere on the web and it looks different from the one on this website - the one here is the latest version, always. We are constantly looking for ways to make our routines better and more effective so they work better for you.
Exercise of the Day
Every 24 hours we release a new exercise of the day. Those are usually quick and sometimes tricky exercises that you can complete in under 2-3 minutes. It's an easy way to add extra movement to your day.
Workout of the Day
Every 24 hours we post a workout of the day. This feature follows a general plan for functional fitness. If you don’t know what to do and how to proceed you can just do the workout of the day every day. It follows a pattern that lets your muscles rest day after day. The feature is mainly designed to help you discover new workouts and try something new.
Challenges
If you feel that a program or individual workouts is not enough, you can spice things up with a challenge or two. Some challenges have specific goals and others just add extra training and let you focus on a specific exercise and improve your technique, e.g., kicks and punches. All challenges last 30 days, a new one is added at the end of every month.
The DAREBEE Community
The DAREBEE community is a very friendly and welcoming place. You can post your progress and keep a workout log there in the Checking In section to stay accountable and motivated. It is also our official help desk - if you have any questions or not sure about something other members or DAREBEE team will come to your aid.
Don’t worry about not fitting in, the moment you join you are one of us. We will support and cheer you on as well as provide a safe environment to help you stay focused on your goals. The DAREBEE community explained in a greater detail here.
Video Exercise Library
We try to be as descriptive as possible when we name the exercises but if you are not sure, we have an exercise library to help you see how each one is performed. It is especially handy when it comes to martial arts moves that are not very easily deciphered by just looking at the illustrations. The library is not yet complete, we add exercises in batches whenever we can.
If you can't perform a move exactly it's perfectly ok to do it the best you can.
Have fun training and welcome to DAREBEE!
