60 Days of HIIT by DAREBEE

Day 32 keeps the climber anchor and runs two tapping drills against each other. Fifteen seconds each of climbers, shoulder taps, climbers and thigh taps, at three, four or five sets with a minute of rest between them.

Shoulder taps and thigh taps are the same anti-rotation problem addressed at two different distances. In the shoulder tap, the hand comes off the floor and travels a short way across to the opposite shoulder. In the thigh tap it goes the other direction entirely - the hand reaches back down the body to tap the opposite thigh, which is a longer reach, a bigger shift of weight, and a much stronger invitation for your hips to twist. Putting the shorter reach first and the longer one last means the interval that demands the most control arrives when you have the least of it left.

Widen your feet for both tapping intervals and move one hand at a time with deliberate slowness. The success measure is not how many taps you get - it is whether your hips stayed square while you got them. Press the supporting hand firmly into the floor and keep your neck long.

Short reach, long reach, and a set of hips that would dearly like to rotate and is not allowed to.

Make it Harder: Alternate shoulder tap and thigh tap on the same rep cycle for the final interval - up, then down, then swap hands.

Make it Easier: Keep both tapping intervals from the knees with a wide hand position and slow, single taps.
