DAREBEE Workout: What it Works
Focus: Fullbody
Type: Metcon
Difficulty: level 4 of 5

Off the Grid is a high-volume full-body circuit that covers cardiovascular output, lower-body strength, anterior chain endurance, core stability, and combat conditioning in a single six-exercise sequence. High knees, reverse lunges, a 20-count plank hold, climbers, knife hand strikes, and jump burpees run in order across 3, 5, or 7 sets with up to 2 minutes of rest. The rep counts are the first signal that this is not a light session - 20 high knees, 20 reverse lunges, and 20 climbers in the same set, before the burpees even arrive.

High knees open the set with an immediate cardiovascular demand that also warms the hip flexors for the lunges that follow. Twenty reverse lunges is a significant unilateral volume - each leg steps back alternately, loading the front quad and glute without the forward knee stress of standard lunges, and at 20 total reps the cumulative fatigue through the lower body is substantial before the plank arrives. The 20-count hold is not a rest - it is a sustained anterior chain effort that arrives when the legs are already loaded and asks the shoulders, core, and hips to hold a rigid position under that accumulated fatigue. Climbers follow the hold without a transition, maintaining the plank position and adding hip flexor drive and cardiovascular load. Knife hand strikes shift the body upright for a standing combat drill that engages the shoulder girdle and obliques through a diagonal chopping pattern. Jump burpees close the set as the hardest single exercise in the sequence, arriving last - by design.

The 2+ on jump burpees is not a gift. It is a floor.

To make it easier: Slow the high knees to a march, reduce reverse lunge depth, shorten the plank hold to 10 counts, and replace jump burpees with step-back burpees. Take the full 2 minutes of rest between sets.

To make it harder: Sprint the high knees and climbers at maximum pace, add a push-up at the bottom of each burpee, and extend the plank hold from 20 counts to 30. Cut rest to 60 seconds between sets.

Grateful for your promise in keeping this site accessible and free for people of all fitness levels & goals around the world. Found Darebee some time years ago and used to just save the workouts and then forget about them somewhere in my documents & to do later lists 😅 but coming back to the site this year I loved the organised/simple layout & navigation of the site with full workout video at bottom to see proper form and notes to make things easier or harder depending on your fitness/energy aswell as an extensive exercise library with joint friendly alternatives. I found it much easier to track/check off completed workouts & days on program/plan on dashboard, was more likely to remember & do it + advanced filter made it quick to find a doable workout. As a tiny way to support this site I made account and use the site exclusively for exercises now, will look to donate when I can 🙏🏽 and would recommend it to all I talk to regarding fitness. Thank you Darebee team for the great job you've all done here and keep up the good work. Blessings to you all.
