DAREBEE Workout: What it Works
Focus: Abs
Type: Abs
Difficulty: level 3 of 5

Hollow Hold is an abs workout built around gymnastics' most honest position - lower back pressed to the floor, arms and legs hovering, the entire front of your body contracted into one rigid arc. Three 20-count hollow holds anchor the session, with bridges and long arm crunches slotted between them and back extensions closing the ledger at the end.

Everything in the sequence either is the hollow position or feeds it. The holds themselves are the centerpiece: gymnasts build entire careers on this shape because it teaches the abs to lock the ribs and pelvis together, the foundation under every skill they perform. The bridges between holds are the counter-movement - hips extending, glutes firing, the front of the body lengthening after all that contraction. Long arm crunches add motion to the same shape as the hold, reaching overhead to lengthen the lever the abs must move. The closing back extensions balance the account entirely, strengthening the posterior side so a session of hard flexion does not leave you curled forward.

The hollow hold has one rule that outranks all others: the lower back stays glued to the floor. If it lifts, raise your legs and arms higher until it presses down again - a higher, honest hollow beats a lower, arched one every time. Reach genuinely long through fingers and toes during the holds, drive through your heels on the bridges, and keep the crunches slow with arms extended throughout.

One position, held three times, earned the gymnast's way. The floor will tell you the truth.

Make it Harder: Lower your arms and legs closer to the floor without letting your back arch.

Make it Easier: Bend your knees and reach your arms forward during the holds.

I appreciate the flexibility of levels and types of workouts and the amazing amount of content being offered for free. The amount and variety of content is overwhelming to start but the filters really help narrow everything down. And if I still can't make a decision, the monthly challenges and daily movements are a great start. One of my favorite features is the video exercise library. When I'm not sure how to do a movement or exercise correctly, it's easy to find and watch a quick tutorial. (The dashboard and ability to create sorted bookmarks of favorite workouts are also very helpful)

I have always wanted to find a place that would meet me at my level wherever I am, encourage me to stay motivated, fit in my busy schedule, not require a gym membership, offer variety, be fun, help me feel like part of a team without leaving my house, and still be affordable. That has been my dream. So Darebee.com makes my dream a reality. It does all that and more. I would highly, highly recommend this site to absolutely anyone.

Yes, the workouts are awesome and I like them very much. They are easy to understand and don't require much knowledge so you can simply start working out. BUT what I think is at least as great is the design and functionality of the website. It is just so clean and well organized. I love the filter functions, they work very well and you can find exactly what you need in seconds. Also the bookmark feature is just awesome! The way you can organize the bookmarks, create different collections and sort them so efficiently is very thoughtful and way better than I have seen it on many bigger platforms. I think it is just an example where one can see that the Darebee team not only strives to create the best workouts but for excellence on every level. Tank you! You are doing an awesome job!
