Mushroom Steak

These steaks are low in Calories, low in fat but are nutritionally rich. They are very high in Fiber, B vitamins, Magnesium and Manganese, Iron and Copper, Potassium and Vitamin D. It's an easy meal to make - the preperation takes only a few minutes if you have a food processor or a blender.

INGREDIENTS 13oz (400g) mushrooms
½ (50g) cup flour
4 tablespoons (30g) ground flaxseeds
½ cup water or beetroot juice
Makes 2 large steaks or 4 small ones. 240 Calories per steak

We Used Buckweat flour and beetroot juice.
Level Up Add 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast, ½ tablespoon psyllium powder, ½ tablespoon thyme, 1 teaspoon black pepper, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

1Add all the ingredients into a food processor and blend until combined.

2Split into 2 portions, transfer to a baking tray lined with baking paper and shape into steaks with a spoon.

3Bake in the oven at 392°F (200°C) for 25 minutes. Serve hot.

Tips

  • Beetroot juice is used primarily for color so if you don’t have it, just use water.
  • Psyllium powder is not necessary for the recipe but it will level up your fiber game and make the steaks come out fluffier.
