With homemade popcorn you get to select quality ingredients and it takes less than five minutes to make at home without any special equipment. Coconut or olive oil work best and you can even splash out for organic corn kernels - they will go a long way since all you need for two portions is only 4 tablespoons.
Note: If you make popcorn fairly often e.g., once a week we recommend purchasing a small air popcorn machine. They are inexpensive and they don't use any oil at all to make delicious healthy popcorn in minutes. And it's mess free.

1Preheat the oil in a stainless steel saucepan over high heat. Throw a couple of kernels in and cover the saucepan with a lid. The moment the kernels pop, your oil is nearly ready for the whole bunch.
2Remove the popped kernels, close the lid and wait for 15-20 seconds. Get the rest of your kernels ready.
3Once the time is up, add the kernels in, shift the saucepan quickly to evenly distribute the kernels and to coat them in oil and close the lid. They’ll begin to pop in seconds and it should take about 30-45 seconds for all of them to pop. The moment you no longer hear popping sounds take the saucepan off the heat and transfer popcorn into bowls. It’s movie time!
