    Experiment: 2 minute pull up

The experiment: work myself up to a 2 minute pull up within 10 days
Time: 1 minute going up, 1 minute going down
Terms: I will be doing this experiment on top of my regular daily workout regimen (Spartan, 100 weighted push up) and will add any workout I find fitting to help me get to the 2 mins.
Execution: there has to be constant movement, so pulling myself up and keep that position for 2 mins will not do the trick.

Science: There is a training method called Super Slow Training or SST originally used by bodybuilders. The way it works is you take up to 20 seconds for a single rep (approximately 10 seconds for one way of your movement and 10 seconds back). This way you terminate all kinds of swinging motion or momentum that helps you perform the exercise itself, making your muscle work in all its length throughout the entire movement. Also you will have your muscle work at its fatigue limit for a longer period of time.
While this method is not beneficial for functional strength or cardio purposes it does bring benefits for muscle strength, density and size.
There are different studies that support this method and even say that due to the method's nature it will show strength and size gain even faster, since you're getting to the muscle's fatigue limit faster and work it longer - making it equivalent to working out with high reps.

So I want to put this method to the test and see how much faster I will actually see the results compared to regular training.
In order to speed up the development curve I will exaggerate this training method by going for a 2 minute rep.

Progress pics and video proof will follow in 10 days.

    Let's see what happens

    1st Day:

It happened to be "Come and take 'em" day on Spartan Trials, so there were 4 sets of pull ups. I did a maximum hold in the upper position + a super slow negative pull up on the last rep of each set.
This brings a totally different aspect to your workout that I was absolutely not used to! This fatigues your muscles so much faster, I didn't get anywhere near my usual rep count.

If you happen to run short on time doing SST is a great way to get your muscles to the max quickly. Still curious what the benefits will be in the long run.

So you are basically aiming to do one single pull-up during 2 min ?? that sounds painful

That's just crazy. If you can actually pull it off you deserve the highest respect.

And you said, your biceps hurt just by thinking about 50 Fake Planches .... and now you make mine burn by thinking about your plan.
