    30 day cold shower challenge

(Heads up, i don't know if this is the right place to post this)

Hey guys, so I am on a general life improving journey (includes working out, diet, meditation, even started reading), and I have been reading a lot about the benfits of cold showers lately.
Some benefits seem to include:boost in metabolism, energy, help stress and depression and even general weight loss! (something about brown and white fat that i don't really understand but i can link some sources if people are interested).
So i thought a cold shower challenge is something that really fits The Hive, so i am starting this challenge myself today, I am going to post my experience here and so should you guys if any of you are interested! this is not really a cheking in post, it should be more of a discussion and experience sharing post.
Some ground rules I think should be in place:
*You have to jump in the cold water, no starting warm and turning the water cold once your in.
    *Shower everyday if possible
*Try to do actual showering stuff, like use shampoo and soap, don't just stand there shiverring
*Last but not least - You can't take a hot shower in those 30 days! so you can't take a cold shower for the challenge and then take a hot one for fun after that.

P.S. I think it would be really awesome if this would turn into an official challenge here in The Hive so i guess i'll tag the team TheRaven neilarey Damer

Oh yeah and I just did the first day, started about 75% cold and turned it 100% after about a minute, It was really hard but i gotta say today was a pretty hot day so it must be way worse in the winter, but honestly, I cant wait to see if these benefits are true and to test them myself! though i probably won't post here every day even if I shower every day since I guess most of the days will be the same.

oh yeah... and the feeling of a dry towel after the cold shower feels like heaven

And there's Japanese misogi. So shivery! But makes you so grateful for tea afterward! Best. Tea. Ever. Also, whomever hands you that cup of tea is suddenly the nicest person you have EVER met.

I'd be willing play along at "must do X minutes of cold shower per day" but not if I can't have any hot showers. That's not happening.

Luckily on the northern hemisphere it's summer, because the water coming straight out icy water pipes in winter is a whole different league! Why, I might even have a cold one today!

Kanary of course you can change the rules however you like, those are just the rules i'm going by

Anyway, did day 2, jumped in at 100% coldest and the first minute was way harder than yesterday, but I ended up staying I would say almost double the time as yesterday, and in the end the shiverring went way down. But of course it is a very hot summer where I live right now so 100% cold is probably no as cold as some other places.

Grimrole I remember doing this for all of a summer holiday (5-6 weeks), I think that the big part was that 1. It developed mental toughness and 2. It actually became warmer after you come out of the shower because the shower was usually colder than the outside.

              Have fun

I couldn't do this in the winter (health limitation) but it might be a fun experiment for the summer.

Day 4 done! I didn't write yesterday since really there isn't much to write about this daily, but today it felt easier for some reason, maybe it was just hotter outside or maybe I am starting to get used to it. Next time i'll update will be day 7 probably, to end the week.

Gee write how it goes if you do it!

A year ago I lived in an apartment with no cold water in the tub/shower. I took the fastest showers in history, taking advantage of the time it took the hot water to get hot. I thought at the time I didn't know whether it would be better to have only cold water ....

The no hot showers at all bit gives me pause, as well.

Will consider some version of this starting in June.

ETA: Yes, I did ask the slumlord (I mean landlord, of course) to fix the shower. No luck. It was too cheap to move, and I lumped it for a couple of years. Sometimes I like to do strange things like that. Slept on the floor for those two years, as well.

Have a bed and both hot and cold water in my current place.

I started this challenge today and I got to say if you do controlled breathing while doing the cold shower you almost begin to feel warmer but that's just me though.
