What We Eat and What we Do

What We Eat and What we Do

Knowledge is power. But only if it leads to understanding. This is something that DAREBEE takes seriously. We spend a lot of time looking at new research, re-examining old research, carrying out metanalisis on studies and examining current accepted dogma when it comes to nutrition and exercise. Our approach played a key part in bringing bodyweight workouts to the mainstream. We had the same effect in combat-based fitness workouts and training with weapons across the entire fitness community.

Our leadership position comes with tremendous responsibility. We avoid, for instance, being dogmatic. Our focus is always on giving the best advice possible and then helping each person who comes across our website be the best version of themselves they can possibly be. There is no prescription. We know for a fact that everyone is different. Each person faces different pressures and different challenges. Each person has a different amount of support at home.

There are many people across the world who have very little support at home or in their immediate circle. They feel cut-off and isolated. They're afraid to try new things, afraid to express what they think because they're afraid of being judged. I am using "they" but obviously I mean "we" because in this we are all the same.

The Hive is important to all of us because in here we feel safe to express our opinions, share our struggles and seek support from people from all over. We feel safe to experiment, try out new things, stretch our wings, acquire fresh knowledge and go further down our fitness journey. This is something every member of the DAREBEE team feels keenly and it is something that's precious to everyone who is here.

Which brings me to the latest trend that's changing fitness: whole-food, plant-based diets. Our response to this is led, again, by science. We look at the studies, listen to the experts, examine provenance and agendas and, as always, make recommendations to help you make better choices.

The emphasis here is on choice. While we shall be focusing, for a while, on this so we can bring to you content that will help keep you aware of what's happening and why, and we shall bring out mealplans and suggestions to help you try out new dietary choices in the easiest way possible, it is, again, no way a prescriptive approach. I am stressing this because our choice of food as individuals is not just a component of our fitness, it is also part of our social life. Suggestions that this may need to change create an automatic resistance in us which then can lead to reflexive negative responses. This happens when we feel that our belief system or identity is being threatened in some way, it happens when we feel that the change being suggested is like an attack on who we are.

This is The Hive. And this is DAREBEE. Discrimination has no place here. In here we are all Darebees. Each of us has a different fitness journey and different reasons for being here. What unites us is the feeling that we all understand the need to be the best version of ourselves we can be and we all feel the need for support, help and acceptance.

As with all things exercise, all things diet that we post are based on scientific research but the choice is always left up to each of us to make. It doesn't matter what that choice is. We respect it. As we respect each other. That is what makes us as special on the inside as we all try to become on the outside. Damer

We, all, have the same goal, however, each one of us approaches it in a different way. The Hive and Darebee are the starting point; our journey begins from here and shall never have an end

Thank you, Damer, for this piece of food for thought

On this paragraph I felt like crying:

Each of us has a different fitness journey and different reasons for being here. What unites us is the feeling that we all understand the need to be the best version of ourselves we can be and we all feel the need for support, help and acceptance.
You realize how important Darebee is when you look back, always THANKS Darebee
Life is difficult for everyone, with the support of bees it is a little less

so true, things have to "click" with the individual otherwise there is just way too much resistance.

Yes, yes and yes. Everyone has his own history, his own journey, his own problem points but we all are here united by our own goal and pursuit. In this we salute, encourage and support each other!

Agree with everything said, another way too look at things we all have our own goals, pressure, stress etc

but here at darebee in this small corner of the internet we have people from all over the world doesn’t mater what language, what skin colour we are all here as one , one force, one unit.

If you think about that it goes too show the world is a small place and people can get on

Couldn't agree more. We all have our struggles.

Being judged, mostly by people ignorant of what you're going through, or indeed trying to achieve, is something we all have to deal with, but could well do without.

Life it too short for nonsense like that!

As I said when I joined this has given me a "family" of sorts and has helped me better myself.

I'm not there yet, but it's a journey, not a destination.

Great post and we cant grow from a position "I am right". The world of social media can bring out the worse in us, but doesnt have to. Darebee is a shining light and may it shine brighter each day. X
