Today was a rest day, and probably the first real rest day that I have had in a while, as most of my other rest days in the past seven weeks were also work days, and thus I wasn't sleeping well or even getting a lot of exercise in the form of whatever physical stuff I was doing at work. I still had over 11,000 steps today, but 3000 of those came before bed last night as I was at work until 2AM again.
TopNotch Thanks, the position I am hired for has 24 hour coverage, but I am on the vacation relief line, so I can really work any hours, though I will have a decent amount of foresight of when my schedule changes.
I took it fairly easy today. Another rest day wasn't a bad idea, but I did take the boys to a museum and so got just over 10,000 steps.
In the evening I did Commando (level I, EC) and Chest, Arms and Core (level I, EC). For the first workout I did 25-20-20 on the pushups to failure, and overall I ended up with 125 for the day. It is nice to break up the daily pushups with workouts, as it can get a bit boring just doing the straight pushups at the end of the day. After this I did one video, a beginner bellydancing video. It has been a while since I have done one these, and it is a good reminder that it is good to mix in for some coordination and agility training. Just the handwork alone can be tricky.
I am not sure if today was another rest day. I planned the bellydancing workout as just something light, but it also satisfies the wild card requirement for the rotation, so I guess I will start there this week. So I have pullups, partner, plyometric, dumbbells, dips, abs and kick left for this one.
I am sure that it must be psychological, or the fact that I got a better night of sleep last night than most nights recently, but despite starting the new job today, and messing up my regular rhythm with no nap in the afternoon, I don't feel tired at all. Or maybe it is just that this new job is more laid back. I didn't think that I was going to make it over 10,000 today, but I got a tour of the airport that lasted about 2 hours and involved a lot of walking, so I actually made it over 11,000.
I have fallen a bit behind on the dumbbells workouts, not in terms of quantity but in terms of time, as I still hadn't felt like doing the one that was released last week. There was a new pullup workout today as well, so I did both of them - Extreme (level I), Bulk Order (level I, EC) and also Arm Day (level I). I did 4-4-4 on raised leg pullups, and 10 circle pushups each time. Overall count for pushups for today was 115. As usual I needed the wall for support on the pistol squats, though I tried a few without.
That leaves me with partner, plyometric, dips, abs and kicks for this rotation.
Again I was a bit surprised by my step count today, as I got over 10,000, even though I don't recall walking that much at any given time. I guess that I had to do some grocery shopping combined with the regular from work added up bit by bit.
Last night's workout was difficult enough, and left me with a bit of muscle soreness, so I just took easier today and did Triceps (level I, EC) and 100 pushups.
That leaves me with partner, plyometric, abs and kicks for this rotation.
I decided to get my steps in today and did a few thousand in the morning while watching the boys. I ended up with 12,000, which means that I probably do around 8000 in a workday now, but I should pay better attention to this to have a better idea.
This evening I did Ultimate Fighter (level I, EC). After this I did 9 regular pushups and then a pushup hold with a completed pushup at the end for a 20 count (more on this to follow). This takes out kicks from the rotation so I am left with partner, plyometric, and abs.
Today is a notable day for two reasons. First of all today marks two years of continuous days exercising. I think that the quality of my exercise was better this year as opposed to the first year, as I had fewer injuries to deal with during training and I didn't have as many days that were almost a missed day due to travel.
A few months ago I did the arithmetic on my progress with pushups and I realized that I would be hitting 100,000 (I started December 31, 2019) sometime in late March. Last month when I had a better idea of when I was going to be hitting this mark, I decided that I should speed up a bit and get to the round number on the same day as my two year mark. So in the past month I have been doing ten or twenty extra here and there, and then in the past ten days, I have been doing a bit more than that. The original goal of pushups, after I started counting them in the pushups app, was to average 100 per day. That was pre-pandemic, then once the world went upside-down, I decided to build up a buffer. Those were uncertain times and no one really knew what the virus would do, so I figured that I would aim for 110 per day, just in case I ended up sick for a month, or some outcome like that. I kept going after this, and made it up to an average of over 130 per day at one point though I have let that drop a bit since then. As of today it is 124 per day, and it took me 806 days to accomplish it.
