My left bicep is still one big bruise, so I did not do much of anything today. I even forgot about doing Tea Cups. I did, however, return for more acupuncture. The guy kept talking about a Shaolin Kung Fu class that he teaches on Tuesday nights. It takes place outside, rain or shine, wind or snow. My first reaction was - that is effing crazy! But, I thought about it during my downtime with all the needles in my arm and now I am thinking that I may check it out. I have been feeling like I am stagnating a bit lately, in the social sense. This would take me in a completely new direction and lead me to meet a whole different bunch of people.

One big problem with the class is timing though. It is 7:30pm to 9 and in a location where it would take me an hour to get home by public transit. I am usually in bed by 10 these days due to my unfathomably early rising. So, we'll see. I think I will go check it out at least once and see how I feel after.

I decided to double down on the Qigong this morning, since walking outside is unappetizing and I still need to rest my left shoulder.

Picked up some wicking thermal under-garments after work today. Looks like I am still planning to give the All-Season Kung Fu a try. While I still think it's crazy, crazy things can sometimes be a lot of fun!

I'm curious about the Kung-Fu thing and hope for your review.

Myfitnesspal is just amazing! My weekly average weight was down another 3.6 lbs. / 1.6 kg from last week. That's 10 lbs. / 4.5 kg shed steadily in 3 weeks through mindfulness and just not eating anything obviously bad. That means you, Coca-Cola! Well, not every day anyhow., hehe. That's close to a 4% decrease already. It seems that I will likely exceed my original goal of a 6% reduction in 9 weeks, so I will raise the bar to 10%. Beach-body, here I come!

Impressive weight loss considering that you "just" ate more mindfully. Good job!

Well, lofivelcro , I have a really efficient body, I guess. I can gain and lose weight pretty quickly. Also, my work keeps me pretty active. I have simply been eating and drinking a lot of unnecessarily high-calorie food products that I am now limiting by measuring and paying attention. I am trying some new behavioral things, like working on breaking the connection between eating and watching something. When I eat, I just eat. No watching, no listening, no reading, nothing. It allows me to pay attention to my eating experience and note how my body feels. Lately, I have also been noticing how much is enough and I don't force myself to finish my plate. And this way, when I watch something, my body will (hopefully) not immediately associate it with eating something. Also, my lifestyle allows me to wait and only eat when I am actually hungry. Not because it's five o'clock, or because I am stressed out or because I am bored. Again, mindfully noticing when it is time to eat.

That sounds like a pretty nifty approach to eating. If it works, even better. I guess many people would be surprised how many calorie-dense some of the foods they eat are.

Haha, yes, lofivelcro ! I was generally surprised when I started looking things up again after taking a long hiatus from that sort of thing. Also, it is quite a shock noticing all the salt in everything!

The Kung Fu involved 30 minutes of dynamic conditioning, 30 minutes of combat cardio and 30 minutes of actual Kung Fu instruction. All-round a great workout. During the dynamic conditioning, we did 4 crawling exercises that are all-body and take-anywhere sort of things. The teacher said if you did these regularly, you will never need to go to a gym. I may take him up on that challenge and start crawling through the local parks! Some stretching and an epsom salt bath afterward will, hopefully, reduce the pain tomorrow. I plan to return next week, but we will see how things turn out.

Feeling a bit of tightness in my hamstrings and middle back. To be fair, my hamstrings were really shot last night, but the stretching and epsom salt bath seem generally to have done the trick!

My Weekly Average Weight was down another 3.2 lbs. / 1.5 kg. I have now shed 13.2 lbs. / 6 kg in 4 weeks. That kinda blows my mind, despite the fact that I achieved very similar results the last time that I really committed to logging my eating a few years back. Some mindfulness and control, coupled with a bit of behavior change can have dramatic effects, I guess. Except for Coca-Cola and potato/corn chips/crisps, I still eat pretty well what I did before, just actual portions of it. 50g of cashews is fine and it satisfies. Two, three, four or five times as much, which I could easily eat if I was watching some show, would be problematic.

Oh, and I do occasionally have a fast food burger, but I don't get fries with it and order water for the drink. And when I got a slice of pizza last week, I ended up not eating the crust for the first time in my life. It would have been too much for me, plus the pigeons were hungry ...

Interestingly, my gf brought over some Taco-flavoured Corn Chips last weekend and I measured out a portion for myself to try. When I bit into it, it just tasted like salt and some other mild, odd flavor. I ended up eating only a couple of them. Then, I opened up some old bags of Doritos, that I used to like but had not eaten from in a couple of weeks, and got the same results. It tasted like lots of salt and some other chemical flavor. Again, I ended up only eating a couple. I have not even considered eating any chips/crisps since. It seems that my palate has shifted away from excessive salt.
