good/beautiful things are difficult to attain...

...that's the meaning of my username which is a transcription of χαλεπὰ τὰ καλά - an ancient Greek aphorism.

One week ago I didn't even know that DAREBEE exists but here I am (and I already donated 10£ because the concept convinced me really fast) ^^.

I chose to be a Spartan here on DAREBEE because I know ancient Greek (I learned it at uni), speak modern Greek every day (my SO is Greek) and I'm on my way to get the mindset of a disciplined fighter who strengthen his body and mind with daily hard training.

Today I'm 27 years old, 179cm tall and 77kg heavy - my technical specifications
I'm not in bad shape concerning my strength and endurance but in terms of flexibility/mobility and coordination, there is a lot of space for improvement. In general, I want to improve continuously my all-around fitness and maybe start again with combat sport/self-defense when gyms will be open continuously.

When I left secondary school (and thereby mandatory sport lessons too) in 2009 I stopped doing sports regularly.
I worked as a powerline worker for some years after school and my opinion was that I don't need to do sports because I already do heavy physical work.
Sadly I kept that mindset when I attended the gymnasium in 2014 in order to study at the university. I had a lot of neck and lower back pain from my sedentary lifestyle - and I didn't even recognize why!
In 2018 my girlfriend and I experienced a threatening situation and we started with Krav Maga. There we started exercising regularly and we understood the importance it has for our body and mind.
Half a year later we moved and we couldn't attend Krav Maga lessons anymore. After a little break I started to attend Kick-Boxing classes at my uni but after the semester holidays we had the first lockdown and I had some psychological problems - I didn't exercise for half a year till last June.
Then I subscribed to Freeletics which was a very good decision as not the exercises itself hindered me to work out but to create and organize a workout routine on my own. Since then I worked out for nine months straight (with some little breaks for medical reasons).
    - That's my training journey so far

I'm here on DAREBEE to get additional challenges, some variation, training plans with equipment (as such a thing doesn't exist in Freeletics) and the hive to log all my trainings and to develop my future training direction.

    Have a nice evening 😉✌️

Hello, and Welcome to the Hive! As you will already have seen, there's loads of stuff here, but one of the best resources is the Hive itself. That's us, you know, all the Bees here. If you have a question, just ask - there's bound to be someone with an answer. If you have had an injury, mention it, because chances are someone here has had the same one and might be able to suggest things that help. And don't forget, if there is something you want to see, make the suggestion. Most importantly, have fun, and all the best for your fitness journey.

Tomorrow I will continue with a Freeletics journey and occasional Darebee workouts.
I read yesterday about "Greasing the Groove" and I decided to try it for my squat and pushup challenge to perfect my technique in these exercises and to discharge my body a little bit - so I'll do 5 immaculate push-ups and 10 Squats each time till I reach the daily goal (or a little bit further).

TopNotch Yes, after reading some background information it seamed very interesting to me!
I will tell you about my experience when I finish the challenge but day one was quite fun ^^ (and it was the first time I did push-ups in a pullover and jeans).

Question to everyone (although it may be a stupid one) 😅

I would like to keep track of my weight every morning but one thing annoys me: According to most of the people, weighing should be the first thing in the morning after going to the toilet. But I have my fixed, very consistent routine that I drink a big glass of water first thing in the morning before I go to the toilet (2yrs) and I'm absolutely not willing to change that habit.
But in that case doesn't change my water intake the results? Can I just ignore the little difference it makes or should I subtract 500gr from the measured weight? 😂

                              thanks!
