Wow, i wasn't aware of your tough medical journey and i am glad your body heals so well. I guess the mind does too, the two are inseparable anyway. All the best for you.

ETA : regarding Duolinguo, I am a bit annoyed. My progress in german seems to have fallen wayyyyy back - is it because I let some skills decay? Has any of you experienced that? Also, how do you deal with skills decaying, do you let some but restore some, how do you decide?
And I find that, for the time I have been doing Japanese I don't have much to show for it... I know it's a hard language, and different writing/s, but still, wondering if it's worth continuing to invest the time.

For german I have a strong base (first foreign language learned, starting at 11 years old, and went to Germany at least once a year through junior high and high school), so it's more gettint it back.

So in short I am wondering if I may change my Duolinguo use.

          Other topic: food
And now for testing gluten! I tried some buckwheat bread this morning, it is going down all right. reassuring, as I love my Breton buckwheat pancake, from time to tiime! With andouillette, or with ham, cheese, and an egg sunny-side-up on top. Yum!
Tomorrow I will try a bigger quantity. I have also rye to try, and then main gluten - white bread, pasta... It's probably gonna be in the quantity for me, from previous experiences. We will see!

Congratulations on your long exercise streak.

I learned some Mandarin as a kid, but haven't used it *ever*; which means that I've forgotten most of the sounds and vocab. I tried an app called Ling (which is probably similar to Duolilngo) for learning Cantonese, but haven't gotten very far yet.

The Japanese language is a pretty tough nut to crack, as I understand it. Maybe it's a long-term investment. And you already speak... three languages? Pretty impressive by anyone's count.

I find I tend to stick with one language and pretty much do it to death, repeating things so I'm doing it almost mindlessly, and then I'll spend a bit of time with a new language, but always back to the old to fill those cracks again. It does get a bit boring, though, and I understand that it has to be limited in what it can offer, so it's probably time that I pull my finger out and get all purple crowns on this language, and then I'll drop it for a while and focus on another one, and after a few months, return to see how much I've retained of the first. I guess it also depends on how often you do Duolingo, and for how long.

Thank you GentleOx and TopNotch , I think I may focus on Japanese for a few months and see what it makes. Thank you

300 consecutive days of exercise, Day 270 was April 29th

This week, 6 days out of 7 walking at least 5,000 steps or going to the gym, meditation 7 days. Reading good, evening self care good . Fish eaten twice.
Globally, this year, goals reached were

Walking at least 5,000 steps at least 6 days: 17 weeks/19
                    Meditation at least 6 days: 17 weeks/19
reading at least 15 minutes: 17 weeks out of 19
evening self care two steps at least 6: 18 weeks out of 19
eating fish at least once a week: 19 weeks out of 19

I'd call that a good week
What else? Buckwheat seems to be well tolerated. I had my parents for Mother's day, we had scallops carpaccio (from a very good frozen specialty), pork chops simmered in milk with fennel and potatoes (with the cartilages well dissolved, the pork chops had no shapes anymore and were more like bigger and smaller pieces of meat , less presentable but very tasty), cheese, wine and cake (from local bakery). Quite a celebration I am so glad I can again entertain and cook for visitors!
