    QUEST: Sail the Seven Seas

    28 September 2020 - 29 March 2021
    For the lead-up and duration of the 36th America's Cup, I'll be embarking on a six month nautically themed fitness quest. We will (virtually) voyage the world in 7,14,21 day legs (See next post). I'll also introduce a range of content (films, music, culture, food) to whet your appetite for the salty spray of the sea. You can join for any leg you wish, do any exercises, choose to do only what you want. The only condition - if you join for a leg you have to keep at it until we reach the next port. So jump aboard.

      DISCLAIMER:
      Just like a grand voyage, the most important factor in a good QUEST is planning. I've already given you the six month framework. I'm still working out my tactics. Locally, my state has been on lockdown for seven months and we still have roughly two months to go as restrictions lift. With summer coming (southern hemisphere) that means outdoor workouts and then gyms. Because of these changes, my routines will probably jump around a bit, to make the most of what I have available and not injure myself. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES.

      My preferred workout schedule is FIVE DAYS ON - TWO DAYS OFF (M-F, WE). At least for these first few legs - daylight savings (which will initially steal my beloved mornings) & warmer weather - I will probably be doing home workouts (w Darebee) in 2-3 week programs with one week break (shore leave?). I can provide more details of what I'm doing, but it's important that everyone controls their own plan. I would love to focus on bulking and major muscle groups (especially my back) but that's hard in the home (with limited weight options). Community fitness equipment & playgrounds have just reopened, so I can now do pull-ups/chin-ups.

                    Here is my "kettlebell". Feels a bit light on some exercises, so might increase as we go.
                    I have a 5kg plate with hand holds which will assist with some exercises (eg.swings).
