I went to see Mortal Kombat this morning. My assessment: Earnestly loopy with good fight scenes that nonetheless suffer from scattershot editing.

Did my chest workout after the movie:

    Bench: 127.5 x 6, 6, 5, 3 (Gave up at this point)
Incline Press: Eight sets (Interested more in muscle-building than strength)
    Dips: Four sets

If I want to bench more, I need to do more accessory exercise work. Might add an exercise or two.

I'm feeling a bit blue today. It does happen from time to time, but it's still hard. I'm back to my old thought patterns: what the hell am I doing with my life? I'm nearly middle aged and I've just been coasting. How am I going to take care of my parents? How am I going to retire? Troubling questions, but I have to remember now that life is still worth living and being happy for. Cheesy as that sounds.

    See you round, Bees!

    Some videogame music this time:

        Manuel

Hi everyone. Ox again, back to deliver my iron-pumping update.

        Back Day:
Dumbbell dual rows (dumbbell in each hand, bent over, start with your grips facing your body and finish the pull with the grips facing each other. Screw barbells, I'm just going to do this from now on)
        One armed machine rows
        Machine Grip rows
        Dumbbell close-grip rows
        Inverted Bodyweight pulls

        Each for five sets.

I'm more sanguine today. Can't afford to stay down for too long. I'm working on building my awareness, positive outlook, kindness, and above all, my empathy. These are the things that lift me out of my bad moods.

I discovered this awesome synth artist last night:

            Thank you stephenphillips42!

You're all very kind! Your messages and likes are like little bolts of goodness.

My goal is to spend my time productively, and not just stay at home, close the curtains, and play games. And I'm doing quite well; it's just easy to lose sight of that.

            Back to in the meantime.

            Leg Day
            Squats: Maxed at 115 x 5
            Wide-stance squats: 6 sets
            Pause squats: 6 sets

And now I'm pooped. I get *really* tired after I lift weights. I also started to enjoy doing squats, for some perverted reason. I don't like leg day, just the squats.

Have a good rest of the week, Bees!

I haven't listened to tunes from the Matrix for a long time, so I blasted this in the gym today!

                Thank you again sunpetal!

Went for a minor PR today, and got it; but I need a steady foundation of lifting before I can just go cockeyed on another PR run.

                Bench Press: 130x6
                Shoulder Press: 5 sets
                Incline Press: 5 sets
                Dumbbell extensions: 5 sets

So tired. Again! I think part of it is the fact that I've cut out processed sugars and am eating natural foods. Given that I'm Chinese, rice hasn't been taken off the menu, but I've supplemented my rice and noodle intake with oatmeal... mmm, oatmeal... And lots of tea, too.

I think what I need in my life right now is gratitude. Just appreciating that I have so many things protecting me and caring for me: my family, a job, food and shelter, my wonderful friends, and of course, the wonderful Darebee community.

                Take care, all.

Was busy watching this video over and over again, looking for spoilers.

Nice PR and solid squat numbers. My guilty pleasure is front squat, I totally understand where you are coming from.

Thank you AnnieW Azercord CaptainCanuck Fremen miawtthias!

Azercord Thank you for the compliment. My lifting progress has wavered over the years. Today was squat day, coincidentally. Front squats are tough... just tough. Hard for me to tack on serious weight to those.

So today my quads were on fire, even before I stepped up to the squat rack. Augh.

I didn't lift with my usual totals, just settled for lighter weight and going through the motions.

                            Squats: 95 x 8
                            Wide stance squats: x 6
                            Front squats: x 6

Now I'm going to load up on scary movies to watch before bedtime. Night night, Bees!

This song is from one of my favourite movies of all time: Dawn of the Dead, by George Romero

                              Hey Bees! Happy Thursday.

So, I forgot to post my workout on Monday, then I had a Tuesday sugar binge . I really need to commit to the nutrition needed for change.

                              Anyway, I'm doing great today.

                              Squats: 8 sets
                              Front squats: 6 sets
                              Pause squats: 6 sets

I love these simple, killer squat workouts. Don't need to think much beyond adding volume .

Also watched Nomadland this morning: basically, a patient slice of life pic on the lives of people who choose to live out of their vans. Well-filmed and very well-acted.

                              Catch you later!
