    7 min workout from DownDog

In a bit of a rush this morning. Had to get out of the house for a 1-1 sneaker fitting for walking and eventually jogging. My feet are actually bigger than I thought they were.

    PM:
Band it (Level I @ 35 lbs. and 25 lbs.)
Hammer (with weights replaced by resistance bands)

Thanks kandy for the links and to you DorothyMH for the message. I'm 5 months post-surgery - the doctors say I'm about 80% of where I"ll be, but it won't be 100% of where I was before surgery. Doesn't matter! I still did the 3 minute plank!

Hey, Dadalo, I am late to your party. I was just reading your opening log entries. You’re quite the poster-child for rehab and recovery post spinal cord tumor! Way to go!! I look forward to having another *senior* here to follow and commiserate with!

Personally it gets boring, too, besides the frustration...

I started a little plank regimen. Last Sunday I did the Two Minute Plank workout and succeeded perfectly with the EC. Today I did it again but did each move for 30 secs instead of 20, so it became a "Three Minute Plank."

Ultimately I want to get to "Six Minute Plank" or even seven (1 min side plank each side). There is a Five Minute Plank workout which consists of exactly the same exercise moves but with longer duration, and it's a difficulty 5, so 6 minutes should be a pretty cool level.

It doesn't mean I will be able to do a 5-minute elbow plank even then, but it's still cool.

Still thinking about kandy's plank leads.....

How about the Five Minute Plank challenge? Or Plank first.

I have't done those two but other plank-related Darebee challenges, and I just fail. Personally they are all too ambitious, but maybe they will work for you.

Thinking about working towards the 5-minute elbow plank........

Band it (Level I @ 35 lbs. and 25 lbs.)
Hammer (with weights replaced by resistance bands)
    Daily Dare (2 + 2 EC)

CaptainCanuck , Thanks for the idea. I was listening to a podcast as I usually do, but watching a video would have been a more effective distraction than staring at "GAIAM" on my yoga mat.

Whirly , nice to meet you and welcome! Thanks for the good wishes.

kandy between you and CaptainCanuck , I'm going to think about how to move beyond 3 mins. But for now, a break!

Congrats on 3 minutes plank, bravo!

I attended to work up to 5 minutes for a couple times, and had never succeeded... I never got past 4 minutes, and 3 was like the best I felt comfortable. After 3 minutes it's torture.

I read about the world record holder, a guy who can hold a plank for several hours. He says that there are certain physical aspects to it, but he mostly trains mentally to get past certain plateaus. That is why most of us with the badge but without the killer abs to match will advise to plot a video of some kind in front of your face on the floor as a distraction from the pain. I jumped from a PB of 3 minutes to 5 minutes the first time I distracted myself.

Thanks, AnnieW ! I'll have to look at the 5 minute plank myself. I really didn't think I could do it, it was as much mental preparation as it was physical...

Congratulations on the 3 minute plank! That’s a lot of work!

You inspired me to look into elbow planks myself and now I have my eye on the 5 minute plank badge. Thank you!
