I find it convenient to be able to comfortably grab the pull-ups bar and do the first pull-ups without jumping, grab the bar and get up
To get used to it, it is better that the first pull-ups is easy, you know that you are doing real pull-ups from the second onwards but the same thing is true if you jump, in your case you bend your legs after the first pull-ups and you have no problems
In the tool that I have there are two steps to the side to go up and grab the bar, then just keep my legs together I don't touch the ground but the first pull-ups is still "free" because I get up helping myself with the legs at least a little

Given the type of gear you have, Australian pull-ups might be a good idea for training.
For the grip I found the gloves very comfortable and useful, there is no problem of injuring your hands and there is no risk of losing your grip from sweat.
I hope they are useful as ideas

Rainbow Dragon Yep, you're right. Best to keep it on the ground.
CaptainCanuck The thing has to live outside on the deck and my concern with using tape is the way it could become sticky given the potential temperature variations to which it will be exposed. Besides, the bar is such a pretty bright red!!
Fremen Yep, I reckon chair rows (which is the name I found here) or Australian rows (thanks for letting me know that name!!) could be a good thing to start with. Going to look for some gloves today!

And to all, I'm happy to have bent legs. After all, how high must the bar be for everyone to avoid doing that??!! My 10-year-old couldn't reach without a boost, but otherwise...

          Just a thought:
Out at the shops (getting my gloves) and I saw a sign that read "Freeze off unwanted fat". Now, no idea what it meant and don't want to know but surely it's better to burn that stuff off!!

I took body building gloves and I feel very comfortable using them, both for the weights and for the pull-ups

                Day 44

                Challenges:
Upper body light (day 24) - Not going to get tricked again by something that says "light'!!
                No Salt (day 18)
                Splits (day 12)
                1min Plank (day 13)
Ninja (day 4) Today, with up and down planks, I was Gritty. Perhaps along the line of oysters and pearls?

                Programmes:
                day 26 Foundation Light
                day 25 Totals

DD with EC (#43) Total DD = 44.

And just for something completely different, I've decided to do
Flexibility Week which means the following:
                Unbound - day 1
                [ ] Stronghold - day 2
                [ ] Anchor'd - day 3
                [ ] Tug of War - day 4
                [ ] Farpoint - day 5
                [ ] Bowman - day 6
                [ ] Liber8 - day 7

Training was good tonight. First sparring where we did a million more lunges, push-ups and burpees - well, okay, perhaps not quite a million, but after today's Totals it seemed it!! Then Poomsae, where more push-ups, squats and leg lifts added to the sweaty glow. Finally got to show what I knew of the pattern I'd learnt weekend before last, and then was told to "follow along" with the next one! Well, that certainly wasn't a happening thing!! Found out that my poomsae trainer has been selected as the trainer for the National team, training for the World Poomsae Championships in May. And some of "our" lads are on the team. Totally cool!!

Bought some gloves for the pull-up bar. Didn't have a lot of time today to have much fun with it, but maybe tomorrow.

                    Day 45

                    Challenges:
                    Upper body light (day 25)
                    No Salt (day 19)
                    Splits (day 13)
                    1min Plank (day 14)
Ninja (day 5) Today I was Balanced. Did each leg for 30 seconds because 15 seconds with this one was just too little.
And just because I obviously felt I wasn't doing enough (and I have a new toy), I have decided to add to the list
                    Dead Hang Challenge (day 1)

                    Programmes:
                    day 27 Foundation Light
                    day 26 Totals

DD with EC (#44) Total DD = 45.

                    Flexibility Week
                    Unbound - day 1
                    Stronghold - day 2
                    [ ] Anchor'd - day 3
                    [ ] Tug of War - day 4
                    [ ] Farpoint - day 5
                    [ ] Bowman - day 6
                    [ ] Liber8 - day 7

Training tonight let me add 250 kicks to We are fighting...

It is an interesting challenge, it is very useful for improving the strength of the grip

                          to 130.
Doing so many push-ups today also pushed me on to my Personal Best of 20 full push-ups in a row! That magic 50 is getting closer!!

Just saw your note on another Bee’s thread about Baseline. You can see my review of it on my thread. It was aLOT more challenging than I expected, too, but I liked the different “non push up based” arm/shoulder/back work they had in it.....just FYI....
