    Day 222

    Challenges:
     day 20 Back and Shoulders
I hadn't thought about what challenge I'd do next so I just quickly grabbed this one:
day 1 2000 Pushups I've been getting a bit slack with my push-ups - haven't been keeping track of them, not doing my Pushers weeks - and I hope this will encourage me to be a little more regular.

    Programmes:
     day 14 Epic Five
day 15 Power Up After yesterday's leg work and what we had been promised for tonight (though it didn't turn out so bad), I just wasn't up to more leg stuff today!

Taekwondo training. A fun session this evening - relays and games. Games like Head-Touching where you stand side-on to your partner, inside feet together, and each try to touch the other person's head while trying to stop them touching yours. Lots of blocking and feinting. Then there was jump-kicking to a paddle but that was out for me. Except, of course, for the paddle-holding. Appointment with the physio tomorrow. Boy, he certainly wasn't wrong when he said this would take some time to heal!

        Day 223

        Challenges:
         day 21 Back and Shoulders
        day 2 2000 Pushups

        Programmes:
         day 15 Epic Five
         day 15 Power Up

Poomsae training. More spinning kicks and jump kicks - explosive sort of kicks that are out for me at the moment. Then did patterns, a few times each, in small groups. That was fun.

The physio saw improvement from two weeks ago, set me a slightly different exercise, and only wants to see me in four weeks' time, so that's all good.

          Day 224

          Challenges:
           day 22 Back and Shoulders
day 3 2000 Pushups I had intended playing a little with this, by doing incline push-ups on the bar across the pull-up frame. I wanted to make sure the chest was touching the bar at whatever height I chose and fairly slowly. I know I can knock out a few push-ups - not a whole heap at a go, though - but I want to make sure I can go slowly and all the way down to the bar. Alas, with the temperature barely achieving the dizzying heights of 7 degrees but the real-feel being -6, no way was I going outside to hold onto a metal bar! So I just did normal on-the-floor push-ups, as usual. Yeah, I'm a wimp!

           day 16 Epic Five

            Day 225

            Challenges:
             day 23 Back and Shoulders
            day 4 2000 Pushups

            Programmes:
             day 16 Epic Five
             day 16 Power Up
Okay, I've got these back in sync now!

The mind can be a very curious thing. Yesterday morning I woke with Van Halen singing in my head. Well, that's okay, you might think, what's wrong with that? Absolutely nothing, I tell you. But this morning, I had the Village People telling me I can't stop the music!! What on earth happened last night?! Where did that come from?? So this afternoon I tried blasting it out with Michael Crawford's Phantom, and I'll go to sleep thinking about the music of the night. Wonder what I'll wake up with tomorrow...

              Day 226

              Challenges:
               day 24 Back and Shoulders
              day 5 2000 Pushups

              Programmes:
               day 17 Epic Five
               day 17 Power Up
Chapters 1 and 2 Spell-Bound I wanted to do this programme because it looked like a bit of fun, so I decided to set it as the children's P.E. lesson, and we did two chapters. And yes, it was fun.

Can it be written Van Halen and Village People in same post...YES! Someone has FINALLY broken thru THAT barrier!

                  Day 227

                  Challenges:
                   day 25 Back and Shoulders
                  day 6 2000 Pushups

                  Programmes:
                   day 18 Epic Five
                   day 18 Power Up
Chapter 3 Spell-Bound We've decided to do two workouts each day with this one. One of our participants is a little more inert than others, so we're taking it relatively gently. Hence today, just one chapter. The first spell we didn't need any rest between each sequence, but the second spell, what with those high knees and climbers, required a bit of a breather.

Taekwondo training. Lots of stretching today. Also some close partner kicks.

It was a beautiful sunny day today, and not too cold. The almond trees had gone into bloom about a week ago, and that meant that the garden was calling. When I say "garden", I really mean "area of ground surrounding the house, covered in fumitory and waist-high mallow". Under the fumitory and mallow are, of course, numerous other weeds which need to be rooted out, so spent some time outside doing just that. Not the best thing to do with my poor old hammies, unfortunately, and I was a bit stiff and sore when I finally finished. But the children got some fresh air and sunshine too. So I didn't get a chance to do my other programmes. Oh well. I think the day was better spent.

WSMC27 No badge necessary; I'm just trying to forget the whole thing. And now get Phantom of the Opera out of my head...! Alice in Chains, anyone?

Which Phantom song? Same as before? *bursts out singing* "Night time sharpens, heightens each sensation / darkness stirs, and wakes imagination .... * It's fun to sing to!

                        Day 228

                        Challenges:
                         day 26 Back and Shoulders
                        day 7 2000 Pushups

                        Programmes:
                         day 18 Epic Five
                         day 18 Power Up
Chapter 4 Spell-Bound It had to be an easy day today because chapter 5 has two workouts, and three in one day is more than one of our participants can handle. Even so, no rest was required with today's workout, and when we finished one sequence, we just turned around and started it again.

Poomsae training. Progressing from wall exercises to doing them up the line. To finish, though, we did some partner wall stretching, followed by 10 side kicks each leg (holding wall) x 2, with a different person calling out the numbers 1-10 (in Korean, of course!), 3 sets. Fortunately, there happened to be exactly 12 of us at training tonight! But talk about glutes of steel!

For hitting the high note - not quite. I can hit the G on a very good day but it's a G-sharp/A-flat. With more training I might, but for now I just transpose the song down a note.

                            Day 229

                            Challenges:
                             day 27 Back and Shoulders
                            day 8 2000 Pushups

                            Programmes:
                             day 18 Epic Five
                             day 18 Power Up
Chapter 5 Spell-Bound One child randomly selected today's spells
and we got Ethereal and Deep Frost
and they were chosen based solely on name - no cheating and checking them out first! Fortunately, one was arms and the other was legs, so that worked out well.

Taekwondo training. Partner drills with paddles. Mostly jumping kicks, some with spins. Finished up with stretching against the wall - my partner was having trouble getting my leg high enough so I grabbed my foot and helped her. Oh, her expression was classic! Worth the twinge from my hammy. Seems to me the hardest part of partner stretching is holding up someone else's leg! Legs are heavy things. I come home with really tired arms!

This term two years ago was my white belt term. I hadn't really exercised for ages - aside from using the gym at work for about 45 minutes most weekdays, I didn't really do anything. And that first 45-minute session was torture! One single proper push-up was beyond me - I'd never done one before, never needed to, hadn't ever crossed my mind to try. Today we were doing, as we often do, californians (relays), and in one we had to run to the line, do 5 push-ups, run back. As I dropped down to do my push-ups, although I did them as quickly as possible (didn't want my team to lose!), I was aware of how good they were (and one of my team members complimented me on them). For me now, 5 push-ups isn't a struggle. Now. Just every now and again, I become aware of how far I've come - mostly in this last year - even mostly in just this year. I think doing Darebee every day (even if it hasn't been much) has helped me focus on things like technique and ways to improve, and keeping this thread has kept me accountable. I've been working on my push-ups (thanks, CaptainCanuck I've installed that app), and overall, what with both my Taekwondo and Darebee, my fitness has improved significantly. I think that when there were no live classes, it was sweating over Darebee programmes that made sure I didn't lose any conditioning! So there. Just thought I'd be a bit chatty tonight.

No problem, the mechanics are a little weird, but if you don't feel like tapping it with your nose or chin, then you can just add it manually.

Congrats on all of your progress, feel free to be chatty any time, nice to hear your insights on your journey.

                                Day 230

                                Challenges:
                                 day 28 Back and Shoulders
                                day 9 2000 Pushups

                                Programmes:
                                 day 19 Epic Five
                                 day 18 Power Up
Chapter 6 Spell-Bound Well, today went quickly - when we found that the spell we had to charge and cast we had already charged yesterday! We were going to get onto the next chapter but something came up. Welp.

Poomsae training. It was cancelled tonight! First Friday night at home without the children (they were at Brigades) for almost a year! So of course you would think that I put my "spare" hour to good use, but you'd be wrong - I frittered that time away playing MouseHunt. Blame BlackButler who has led me astray!

CaptainCanuck It is a little odd to be using my face to hit my device. I try to hold my head up anyway when doing push-ups or I find that I "cheat" by getting my head to touch before any other part of me does and then saying, there, done! So I just entered the count manually. Can't say for how long I'll use it or if I'll be consistent with it, but it seems a bit of fun right now so I'll give it a go.
