    Day 160

    Challenges:
    day 16 Punches and Squats
    day 6 Upper Body Plus
    day 6 Glutes of Steel

    Programme:
    ​ day 29 Hero's Journey Found the close-grip push-ups a bit of a trial so did way fewer of them than the others. Heavy arm day today so only managed a total of 141 push-ups for the programme. Did the three Weapons, too.

    DD with EC = 130. Total DD = 131.

    day 19 - Splits app - Intermediate
    Resistance band walks - straight leg
    Leg Stretcher - 5-mins. It is easy to see improvement with this machine, and I am pleased with what I am achieving. Don't think I'll get my full splits in the near future, but at least it is looking not too terribly far away now!
    Online Taekwondo training - live 60-min class. Usual face-to-face training will re-commence in about a month's time, but we'll continue to have online training and Friday live online classes until then.

      Stance drill - L-stance -> long -> horse x 20
      Side kick hold 5-sec x 10
      Pattern 5, station 1 x 10

      Bit of a lazy day today - which was nice for a change! Made doubly nice by some heavy rain that set in early evening.

          ​ day 31 Hero's Journey Yikes! Today certainly made up for yesterday's easy day!! By set 9, I was about ready to let them all burn. But Heroes don't, you know, so happy TopNotch Day! (Deliberate obscurity so only those who have done the Journey have any clue. )

                    ​ day 33 Hero's Journey Yep, I was right. Today was a challenge - mostly finding the time for an 8km walk! I selected that option
                    because experience has taught me that if you don't go for the hardest thing, there will be a nasty surprise!
                    , and fortunately it was fairly pleasant walking. The sun was shining but there was a breeze that stiffened occasionally. The temperature did creep up to 10 degrees C but the apparent temp was under 5. I was occasionally tempted to take off my jacket to cool my underarms but then that breeze came back... Had to use the weights on the walk. My ankle weights are like four small squares of concrete linked by vinyl, but once I got the squares neatly positioned around my bones, they weren't too bad. My wrist weights are only just small dumbbells with straps that I can slip over the backs of my hands, holding the weights in my palms. And I did put my feet up at the end! Once I had done all the push-ups and Weapons, of course.

                    Leg Stretcher - 5-mins
                    Online Taekwondo Training - Elisabeth couldn't make it again today so I did another Poomsae class instead of general training. Strangely, I felt quite stiff and inflexible today (but I still managed to get to my usual place on the leg stretcher, so I wasn't as bad as I thought) so it was hard. There was also a fair focus on the glutes. Ow! Enjoyed the drills, though. I'll be doing them again.

                        ​ day 34 Hero's Journey Why is it that when something says "throughout the day", I read it as "as late in the day as possible so you have to rush and do it all in one go"? I tell you, doing 400 slow climbers in about 1/2 hour (interspersed Glutes of Steel and dinner supervision) really challenges the abs! Wow!

                        Leg Stretcher - 5-mins. Still feeling really stiff today so didn't get as far a stretch as usual but at least I stretched.

                          I hear ya on the ”throughout the day” instructions. Never works for me, either. Always end up doing sets with my PM workout.

                              ​ day 35 Hero's Journey I really don't like "to failure". I always feel that perhaps I could have done just one more...? Today there was no problem (and never is!) in push-ups to failure, but with the squats and sit-ups I imposed a limit of 50 per set - the squats so I don't totally root my knees (the grating noise as I squat is never pleasant to hear) and the sit-ups - well, I suppose "to failure" could also refer to my patience! Wall-sit - hmm, should have brought a book.

                              day 25 - Splits app - Intermediate
                              Leg Stretcher - 4-mins.
                              Online Taekwondo Training - general 50-min class. No Elisabeth - she won't be able to come again. Received a text re grading. It's on for the end of next week. Half of it is the live online Friday evening class, and the rest is video submission of things I haven't really been working on! Erk. So I'll be having a major focus on my patterns and some other things for this next week.
