    Happy Funky Dragon day!!

A good balance drill I have been given is front kick and hold, keeping leg up bend the knee and change hip position around to side kick, side kick and hold then around you go for a backward knee break...and hold. Then switch legs.

Io6 Front kick hold I can do quite easily. Up (prep), straighten, back to prep, then down. That's not my challenge - at least that's something I've got!! It's the side kicks with the hip pushed forward that always gets me. I thought perhaps of having a go at that, holding on to a chair, while standing on a wobble board. The chair can give me stability but I can also easily let it go, and the wobble board will challenge the full position, even when holding on. I'll give it a go and see how it works.

I know that it is a monetary investment, but there are tonnes of not-physically-demanding but also challenging exercises that can be done on a bosu ball (or in my case the cheapest alternative that I could find).

CaptainCanuck But at the moment, Bosu balls are impossible to get. I reckon after Christmas there will be such a flooded market of second-hand exercise equipment!

            Day 143

            Challenges:
            Multiplank (day 19)
            Punches and Squats (day 2)
Hundred Push-ups (Week 3, day 1) Repeating last week and, who knows, may even have to repeat it again next week. We'll see.

            Programme:
             day 15 Hero's Journey 10 sets.
            All hail the Mighty Hero!

            Special Programme:
            Zombie Apocalypse Workout Triweek
            Week 3 (Final week)
            Monday: Zombie A fun HIIT.
Tuesday: Zombies, Run! workout ("Patient 29") 1min walk/2min run x 7 So then, what's with the helicopter mob? The plot thickens...
            Wednesday: Runner Strength
Thursday: Zombies, Run! workout ("Virtuous Circle") 1/2 x 7
            Friday: Team Zombie
Saturday: Zombies, Run! workout ("Scouting mission") 1/2 x 7
            Sunday: Knockout

            DD with EC = 128. Total DD = 129.

Splits app - Intermediate (day 2)
Online Taekwondo training - general 50-minute class.

Elisabeth came over and we did our training, followed by the splits app. Today I also managed to do 3 x 10 assisted pull-ups. It was a long day today, with my exercising taking over 2 1/2 hours all up. Hero's Journey was long today because I did all the sets (another reason why I don't usually) and took over 45 minutes (it was after Taekwondo and I was a little tired!) and then there was 20 minutes for my Zombies workout as well as the other incidental things. Today, all the lengthy workouts seemed to collide, and I'm sure tomorrow's workouts would be over almost before I start them!!

TopNotch I knew that lots of exercise equipment was unavailable, but I hadn't thought about bosu balls. Oh well ...

Two other suggestions ... this workout was pretty good. If I had unlimited workout time available, I would probably try to do it every day. It only requires a 2x4. Or maybe try juggling? It is a bit unconventional, but balance plays a big part in it (another thing I would practice if I had unlimited time).

CaptainCanuck Thanks for reminding me of this site - I haven't been there for ages. Just reading their Beginners Guide to Parkour... But, on the whole, my general, ordinary balance is pretty good. It's only in certain positions that deficiencies are evident - like this position (not me of course, but I wish!):

Once that bottom foot rotates 180 and the other is up and the pelvis is pushed forward, that's when things become undone! Easy enough (relatively) to do it quickly, but I once heard that you can't do it properly if you can't do it slowly because that's when you need total balance and you can't just rely on momentum to pull you through. But I like the 2x4 thing - could be a bit of fun, particularly #10.

You could try dancing as well. I have found that bellydancing is pretty good for balance, but I imagine most styles of dance would be great.

Yesterday, the Pan Pacific Masters Games, scheduled for November, were cancelled (why wait so long? What's happened recently? Perhaps they were just waiting to see how things were going). I had been looking forward to going to the Gold Coast... They may hold one next year instead of in another two years' time, so we'll see what happens. Well, at least I have more time to work on things.

Took the children to the Tea Shop where we spent WAY too much on different teas, and enjoyed scones with jam and cream while drinking a pot of tea of our choice. Last time we stocked up on tea was just over a year ago, and we were meaning to go this April but... Anyway, the shop has re-opened now so I had little time for exercise today. Bit of weight-lifting involved in the large carry-bags full of tea, though!
