      28th August

Started the day sensibly with some Qigong, then got ants in my pant and started looking at programs. Established that we don't have dumbbells heavy enough for Ironborn in the house and that I'm still not allowed to do workouts with 'to failure' in them. Also that still being sick...failure is a pretty achievable place .
Did find that I could do Welcome to the Jungle in ~5min before putting myself back to bed.

        Qigong

Spent the morning bothering my children:
        Power Crawl
        100 Seconds
then my son want to do Welcome to the Jungle having seen me do it yesterday. He use a single small dumbbell against his insistence he could lift more ...we took our time but had fun seeing how high we could get our high knees.

        Then some punching drills.

Nice looks like fun, my boys aren't quite to the point of exercising alongside yet.

Exercising along side is a loose concept. The kids have been part of my workouts since they were babies. First as weights (I still use them as weights) and then as buddies. We adapt exercise for them, it's more important that they do something rather than stay true to the workout as written.
I think your kids are still toddlers CaptainCanuck so we were playing 'hunting' games (bear crawl and ape hop around making animal noises to catch them), piggy back runs, basically anything that could be turned into a game. From memory they have amazing stamina but they sleep well afterwards
Now, the kids know they have to do a certain amount of exercise and chores to get screen time...all about leverage!

Ha! My son just called me outside to work on kick drills- no rest for the wicked! That kid has an obsession with kicking for the head.

The fact you exercise with your kids is in my opinion inspirational and a vere good habit, your kids get active, learn skills and you all get more from exercise, becomes more fun and a way to spend time together. I really like the fact i see many fathers here at darebee doing this- it gives me much joy to hear this is still happening in our day. I can not have children, but i wholeheartedly support this method of parenthood. So i just wanted to say, awesome stuff, keep it up

Io6 you just blew my mind with these game-exercises - it's so cool. Hope to do the same with my kids

Start when they're first born huma and you'll get there!

                  Genesis
Bear and crab drills...then I died in a puddle of sweat.

                    31st August

                    4x 3min skip
                    Circuit:
                    1. Push ups
                    2. Sit ups
                    3. Burpees
                    4. Windmills

Took the kids through Viper, complete with some truly abysmal punching! HIIT is no excuse to drop your guard!

All the best Io6 for a speedy recovery. Kids are also a great way to keep yourself in check. I find myself constantly showing my daughter proper technique because she does it half-heartedly which forces me to do it the correct way and stops me from getting sloppy.

                        1st September

                        Hotfoot
15min skip, found a nice sunny spot in the yard to burn my 15 today.
                        No surrender

The kids happily wander in and out and do a set of these types of Darebee workouts without me saying a word but the minute I pick up the skipping rope...tumbleweeds

                          2nd September

Hotfoot- might just ditch this for straight high knees, calf raises are mucking with my flow.
                          5x 3min skip
                          Circuit:
                          1. Push ups
                          2. Sit ups
                          3. Burpees
                          4. Windmills
                          5. Squats
Epic Abs, reminds me how much I love heel taps.

My soundtrack of choice today was the Smiths, Natacha Atlas and Bluegrass...my partner has issues with this mix.

Then Pathfinder day 1 with the kids. They decided to find everyone. FYI for this adventure my son is the shape-shifting ghost of a mantis shrimp.

I haven't been training with programs recently but I might check out Pathfinder, everyone seems to be having fun with it.

It's good for the kids CaptainCanuck, not too challenging and a nice story.

                              3rd September

10min high knees- forgot these were contagious here. Ended up with my son with me chatting away.
                              Power Bolt
                              Flexible Today
Stretched these out but still ended up twiddling my thumbs so added some footwork drills and a bit of hip switch work. The problems when things look reasonable on paper.

Pathfinder chapter 2, well that was over quick!
Pathfinder chapter 3, split the high knees into 1min each way run to the water and back. The kids are now a Hydra and a giant.

                                4th September

Pathfinder didn't happen today because the concept of 'to fatigue' is understood by one child as 'I don't want to so I don't need to do any' and the other as 'I'm going to keep going until I break myself on the first set because I want to beat you all!'.
So I need to think of a way to make it work for both of them

                                Power Bolt
                                Power Row
                                Sun Salutation
Power Bolt - this time my son joined me and talked non-stop about the relative merits of sea monsters and trash talked my burpees because I can't get my knees all the way to my chest on the jump (insert long suffering sigh here ).
