GentleOx Thanks, the pullup bar workouts have been some of the toughest that I have run across in the database.

TopNotch I think by this point I mostly make up my mind before. For instance, side leg raises at a relaxed pace I think most of us could do several hundred before tiring. It helps sometimes when a workout has a "to failure" range stated for Extra Credit, then I usually just aim for that.

Another relaxed day, with just a short trip to a park for a picnic at midday. Though I still got a lot of steps in with over 14,000.

Tonight I did 4x4 and Ultimate Fighter (level I). I wasn't feeling up to going for EC in either one tonight, instead just took it relatively easy. Pullups in 4x4 were 11-8-7-6, and I did 4 sets of chinups. Ultimate Fighter got me 90 pushups and I added 10 more at the end.

Morning run today, and decided to finally do the regular neighbourhood run again after either focusing recently on capturing other runs on GPS or checking out options from AllTrails. It was a cool morning, with a starting temperature of 13 degrees. It also seems like the trees are changing colours already, which seems early. I told my wife that it might have something to do with our lack of rain, but just a guess. Time was 31:50 for 5.5 km.

We didn't exactly get a lot done today, but mostly because we were busy with housework and running errands. We did get to a playground later in the day though. Step count for the day was over 17,000.

I was planning on taking it easy tonight, but that plan went away when I saw that they released a new dumbbell workout. So I did Rockin Abs (workout of the day, level I, EC) and Under Construction (level I, EC). The dumbbell workout was pretty tough, and probably not deserving only a level 3 rating, though to be fair I am not sure what they set as their base weight for dumbbells (I use 20 pound ones). I did 16-10-8-8 on the four sets of "to-failure" renegade rows + pushups, reminding myself once again that these are one of the toughest exercises for me. Granted, it was a lot harder with only 30 seconds rest between sets. After this I added 56 more pushups and 30 pullups.

August was an interesting month, partially because the first week of the month was somewhat lost watching the Olympics. I tried to get back on track with consuming water, and drank at least 7 glasses per day every day. It was also the first month where I did at least 30 pullups every day. Whereas my goal with pullups is just to do as many or more than my daily average (24 at the moment), I generally aim for 30. Presumably with over 900 pullups this month, it is also the most that I have done in a month. As I have been working through the pullup bar workouts, I have also been doing a lot of chinups, and so I most likely pulled myself over a bar over 1000 times this month.

I started paying attention to my monthly steps in February 2020 when I did my first step challenge. Even before then I had my daily goal set at 6000 per day. This past month though, I hit a minimum of 10,000 each day (one day was 10,008), and that was the first time that I maintained that over the course of a month. At over 445,000 steps it was also my second best month in terms of step count, though during my previous second best (May 2020) I did spend a certain amount of time pushing around a stroller with the two boys, so that was still probably a better month overall. Despite having another step counter, the FitBit didn't really provide a lot of extra incentive or motivation, except for the one day when I won the step challenge. I have been working on the Nile challenge on the World Walking app, which has taken me the better part of a year. Now I only have about 55,000 steps left, but I won't register those until the end of September.

I wanted to get a run in today, but nothing too intense. The best place for that is the 4.4 km run through the nearby park, which I almost always use as a recovery run. Since getting the FitBit, I have also been trying to capture all of my most common runs on the built-in GPS so I have a record for later, and this was the second from last one that I wanted to capture. Things went pretty much as per usual until 1 km from the finish when I came across a bear. Not really such a big deal, it saw me and then took off into the woods, but I wasn't willing to take my chances that it wasn't going to change its mind (though dangerous black bear encounters are pretty rare in reality), especially as apex predators have the chase instinct when they see something running. So I backtracked a bit to another trail and stopped my run there, at 3.4 km. I did it in about 23.38. At least it was a linear out and back route, so the GPS captured the trail info, just not the whole run.

Beautiful pictures! Glad the bear kept to itself, and you took the better safe than sorry route.

              Mamatigerj Thanks

We got out to a playground today and did a couple of short walks. Step count for the day was over 13,000.

I took the light day today after skipping it yesterday. Tonight I did 100 pushups, 30 pullups and Limitless (EC).

Nice pictures! I love rivers 😊

NancyTree Thanks, I think that I prefer rivers to most bodies of water. I would rather see a river than the ocean for instance.

I have been seeing that a lot of people are working on the new program Pathfinder, and seem to be enjoying it, so I figured I would give it a shot as well. I figured that I would do several days of the program at once. I looked ahead and realized that I would have enough steps in from exercise tonight, so I took it easy mostly today, though as always that is a relative claim when chasing after the two little guys.

I did Days 1-7 of Pathfinder. This gave me 6 sets of pushups to failure and I managed 20 on every set. It also meant a 30 minute run and a 50 minute walk. I did these consecutively on the treadmill (it started given off a weird almost metallic smell by the end, so I unplugged it). The run was almost exactly 4km, though as always it seems like the treadmill is not accurate as I routinely run about 5.5 km in less time than that. I will go with what it says though, no other option. Steps for the day were over 14,000.

I also did 30 narrow grip pullups.

Wow, you're whipping through Pathfinder. Are you doing the + version?

BlackButler Where I live is full of nature and lots of great running routes inside the city where you would think you were in the middle of the wilderness.

TopNotch I am not sure, just kind of felt like doing a lot after taking a lighter day two days ago. It kind of fits with my running plan anyway.

Today we were waiting as usual as my wife was sleeping after her night shift. We were even supposed to wake up earlier to do something, but that was contingent on someone coming to pick up something from an online sale, who was two hours late (seems to be a common problem with selling stuff online.) So we only got out after. I planned ahead in Pathfinder though and we got in a 30 minute walk, albeit one where I was stopping every now and then to give the kids cotton candy, or to throw away the cotton candy that they dropped on the ground. Step count for the day was over 11,000.

Tonight I did Days 8-15 of Pathfinder. I did 20-18-18-18-14-10 on the "to failure" pushups. I won't give away any spoilers, other than to say that the number of sets is starting to add up.

I also added 30 pullups, and my wife joined me for a game of table tennis afterwards.

Morning run today, in the other part of the city while the family was at the farmer's market. I did 5.6 km in 31:34. Afterwards my wife did a yoga in the park and I walked around with the boys between the nearby playground and a small garden while she was there. We went to the botanical conservatory as well after for almost 10,000 steps already by this morning.

You're not pathfinding, you're trailblazing. No idea if that makes sense, it just sounded good in my (ESL-)head. What I mean is, you're breezing through the program, it's awesome.

Gandhalfit Normally I wouldn't measure step count in the morning, just helps to keep track of the walks for Pathfinder.

lofivelcro It sounds good to me!

Today I did Pathfinder days 16-22, though not in that order as I did the two 30 minute walks earlier in the day as well as the run. Step count was over 18,000.

For the remainder I did in the sequence listed by days. For pushups I did 28-26-24-16-14-12. I probably could have done more but I was aiming for 120, so I just spaced them out accordingly at the end. As with my non-spoiler from yesterday, I will once again only say that I am doing a lot of sets now.

                                I also did 30 pullups.
