A lot has happened this week! Many times thanks to
Amirsh DorothyMH Lallafa for all the well wishes. DareBee is such a nice community.

I did feel better that next day and enjoyed driving through Arizona & New Mexico. Both were snowy and beautiful to drive through. I often forget how big CA is and this trip made me realize that places like Phoenix, AZ, and the Grand Canyon really aren’t that far, driving-wise. It takes just as long to go up northern CA to see family and we do that at least once a year.

Second day saw us finish through New Mexico, the top part of Texas, and then through most of Oklahoma. less interesting sights but still a pleasant drive.

Fasting and healthy eating are out the window, though I’m not going crazy with sweets. My family lives in a food desert, so any strict food rules are loose for me here.
I didn’t do any fitness AT ALL until yesterday and I am not getting to sleep until midnight, so despite best intentions, I’ll be taking this vacation to relax and do what I can. Have kept up on the water drinking at least.

Yeah, traveling is a difficult time to keep the fitness patterns going. Try to relax and enjoy the time with your family, and not worry too much about what you are not able to fit in. It takes some practice and focused energy before exercise and travel become a coordinated effort. Even then, it’s freakin hard to maintain it, I can tell you!😜

So... I couldn’t complete this one. I remember the first workout like this was hard, but I barely got through the first round and couldn’t lift my leg by the end. I still wanted to get a workout in though, so I did today’s Grit & Grace workout at Level I.
I dunno if that counts within the program. I mean, I couldn’t complete the day’s workout, so... do I just stop here? siiigh.

I feel like I’m falling short a lot lately. Pared down on workouts by omitting the Assassin Training to avoid over-training, ditched my never-finished 5k training due to shin splints, dropped off on challenges bc of poor planning and illness, and now I can’t complete a program. Weight loss has also stalled bc of inability to cook/control much of what I eat for the past few months.

Life is going well otherwise. I finally have the financial ability to support causes and seasonal fundraisers that I’ve always appreciated/enjoyed, I’m really enjoying my vacation with family, and I have, after years of trying different things, figured out what exercise and diet types I respond to best. I just try so hard with the fitness and health so each little dip is so frustrating to me. Gotta cut myself some slack for the holidays I suppose.

I just saw this Christmas Tree challenge and Ima push myself to get the coin! I’m terrible at pushups so this is a good way to really knock them out. If I do 100/day I should be good and since that’s only 10/hour, not counting any that come from workouts, I shouldn’t have any trouble making it.

This was a great one to have today. I’m good at these and even though I’m exhausted in the end I feel really good. After the various failures lately, it’s nice to have a good session.

Was not as sore as I thought I would be and did pretty well. Even did a couple sets of 20 at a time. Most still just 10 though.

Eating is going terribly. I think I’ve eaten 2 vegetables since I got here, if you count fried potatoes. Yeesh. I knew the food here wasn’t healthy, but dayum! Well, all the better to look forward to a reset in Jan.

No one can really eat healthy during Christmas

Got to ride horses today and had a lot of fun. It’s been a few years and my uncle was glad to let us ride since those horses don’t get too much chance to anymore. Having a good vacation, overall.
Fremen ima be so water-fat by then! But yes, January is our sanctuary.

yay I got my ornament! Time to go post it. Feels nice to complete a challenge.

A nice bonus I’ve gotten from this check-in thread is I can now look to my strengths and weaknesses. I always do much better at, and enjoy, the cardio workouts but not so well in strength, particularly abs. It feels great to have done the push-ups ornament, even if they were all on knees. I think in the new year, once I’m done with 90 Days of Action, I’ll focus more on strength building and especially the abs and my chunky arms.

Been eyeing the Hero’s Journey program for a bit and it looks like I can choose different ways to go about it, so I guess I could just repeat it with different weapons if I wanted. I have pretty good cardio and recovery; I tend to do 30s or 60s rests in those and only need the full 2m for strength. So it’s time to force myself to improve on some parts I’ve always disliked about myself.

it’s pretty great that the Hive has such a supportive group of people - you guys keep me accountable with all your great posts! - and being able to really see my patterns will only help me improve in the next year.
but for now, I’m still on vacation.
