    Good work on the workout!

My pull-up bar is completely homemade and easy to detach. I already had one sturdy hook in my ceiling (keeps a load of 400kg / 880 lb) so I just took a thick wooden bar, filed a small gap into the middle and attached a looped rope via prusik knot. Whenever I want to do (negative) pull-ups, I just attach the bar to the hook. So far it's surprisingly serviceable for my needs. The knock-off Aldi's TRX bands, that I happen to own as well, attach in the same place (maybe a punching bag may join the collection eventually). In full camouflage mode I have a plant on the hook. No un-initiated guest would suspect a thing.

So - yesterday and today I was helping my friend with her surgery and post-op, so a lot more driving than usual and no gym time, no running. I managed to get my mom and brother doing punches with me though, so that was a lot of fun. Did the DD and a little gesture towards the Battleground both days, so I haven't forgotten you! Tomorrow I'll be back!

OK, I did it! several hours of learning to telemark ski. Holy moly, my knees, my quads. This was major, y'all! (But also chances to do crazy stuff like this are why staying in a reasonable level of in-shape-ness is such a gift. It's cool to be able to say YES when life gives you adventures!)

                Thank you Cjell

                Today:
pretty sore in the quads and sorer arms than expected, but nothing deadly
climbing an hour and a half or so - not super strong but not as weak as I feared, given how tired the bod is
                Age of Pandora day 9
                DD + EC
reverse pullup 30s deadhang (actually about 45 since the timer was screwed up)
                meditation 20minutes

Back to work full time today, so we'll see how the working out goes.

Today: I walked up the hill to work (2 miles, pretty steep and icy) - it's supposed to be so super cold in the next few days so it's likely that's the only walking day (also it's so icy I'm scared to ride my bike).
Walked across campus to the gym at lunch (about an mile) did just 5 minutes warm up on the elliptical, then
                  assisted pull-ups:
                  10@40
                  5@40 x2, 2 minute rest
                  6@40, 5@40

                  assisted dips:
                  10@60
                  10@50 x2

                  chest press
                  10@40 x3

                  walk back to work,
then walked home at the end of the day

DD + EC but no time to do any other Darebee programs
will try to do a short meditation before sleep

I just want to say how much I really like the dips. They hurt a lot at first, but they are growing on me! I really like how I feel after these hard upper body workouts.

OK, just a quick one today - I only have a brief time between work and an evening meeting so here it is:

                    DD +EC (2 min plank w/leg raise)
                    Age of Pandora day 10
                    neg pull up day 7
                    1 minute meditation

                    Until tomorrow!

Today was crazy cold - really hard to motivate. But ended up climbing for a good two hours, until I was pretty done, muscle-wise.

Then home and did the DD +EC (2 min leg raise thingee)
                        Age of Pandora day 11
                        neg pull up day 8
                        1 min meditation

yay! Feels so weird not to have all the punches to do for the Battleground!

Got up early today -3F and went to barre class. It was full of undergrads with just a handful of die-hards I recognize, none of them out of their 30's.

But let me tell you - I rocked it. 47 years old and my body feels better than it has ever felt. I would not have expected that with aging and all the aches and growing stiffness and everything else that I could feel better now than I did in my 20's or 30's.

Sure I discovered I've aggravated my Achilles tendon in one foot - probably from tele skiing - so I'll have to be patient with that. But I just want to cheer you younger people on! You can keep making gains in your fitness, your energy level, your flexibility and posture, your strength and muscle mass, even as you age. Yes it gets harder. Yes, I work harder with less to show for it.

But as I keep telling my peers: our bodies are going to hurt every day now anyway. Do you want it to hurt from muscles aches from having tried hard (and done something fun?) or do you want it to hurt from underuse and pulling out your back carrying in the groceries? Keep at it, enjoy your body and all it can do. Have fun with it! Be strong, get stronger!

Did my gym lifting day, so less darebee (also did not do darebee yesterday post-barre.) The Pandora workout, not happening tonight. I did both yesterday and today's DD + EC. I meditated.

At the gym: 10 minutes warmup on a very weird elliptical - it was huge for me and felt like running through water.

pullup assists: first tried to find my 1 rep max - first guess was at 20 pounds - but managed 3 reps, so that's not it. only did 1 rep at 10, so I'm guessing it's somewhere between 0 and ten - the machine has nothing smaller than 10 but I can't do a body weight one yet - soon!

                              Then 10 @40, 5@40 x2
                              Dips 10 @50
then 5 more pullups at 40 (no real rest between)
                              10 more dips at 50,
then 5@50 with absolutely spent triceps

                              Chest press 10 @40, 8 @45 x2

I felt super pumped when I walked out (also noticed I was pushing heavier weights than some of the guys, which shouldn't matter but always does, because I still don't toally feel comfortable there, especially when it's busy, I feel like I'm in guys' way and like I'm not as entitled to use the equipment as the men are, so that's a little mental conditioning to unlearn.)

Got my 20 minutes meditation this morning. Then went climbing again - and was still pretty toasted from the pullups/dips yesterday. I worked on one project and only had the energy to really try it once - it is a killer but so interesting how after that one I was pretty much toast. I climbed in total about an hour and a half, had a lot of fun, climbed some easier stuff that was fun and not projecting.

Took an hour walk with a friend in the afternoon and did the DD +EC just now.

Tomorrow we'll climb again after work and then I totally need some rest days. Maybe I can manage Pandora then (Tues or Wed) but I really think these arms need a good rest to recover.
