In are old house, ours would randomly go off in the middle of the night. It would scare the shot out of us.

Your post reminds me that I still haven't installed our smoke detectors. They've been lying around for six years now....

Belly Dance! Week 1
I have wanted to learn Belly Dance since i was 12 or 13. I have done some other YouTube videos from time to time, but they are few and far between (at least what i have been able to find.) I don't want to do "belly dance workouts ~ shimmy like Shakira" videos; i want to actually learn to Belly Dance. This series (BellyDance for Beginners; Women 50+) as well as the channel is new to me, and according to the series title it is exactly what i have been wanting. The first video is longer than the rest, and i did about 2/3 of it. My plan is to do these every Sunday.

Yoga
Continuing Self-Care
Deep Breathing Meditation and Hug day 119

Ooh thanks for the belly dance link as well! I’ve been looking for some good tutorials. Eventually I would like to be able to do the workouts like Shimmy like Shakira, but I’m definitely nowhere near that!

I looked at the video as well although I guess I do not belong to the target audience (ok, I have a belly but looking at the trainer I do not think that this is a necessary requirement) . I have been to two weddings where I recall that some performers managed to heat up the crowd in an instant: the one was where a band played some Eastern European gipsy Klezmer fusion music - in no time everybody was one their feet dancing madly. The other one was when a belly dancer performed. The crowd was heated up at once as well.
Being the clumsiest of all martial arts practicioners I have always admired the body control of eg gymnasts or belly dancers although I have not had the chance to see many of the latter.
Have fun - looks like a great way of moving the body!

DorothyMH, AquaMarie, CODawn, and lofivelcro, i know the smoke detectors are important, but they are a d*** nuisance! Ours are all hardwired together, so that if one is set off they all go (which i understand for safety.) We had them all turned off for several years, because one went haywire and started going off randomly and with increasing frequency. We tried removing the battery, but that made it worse. We couldn't figure out how to fix it and couldn't afford an electrician, so we finally just turned off the breaker that controlled them. A couple of years back were finally able to have them all replaced.

LizardFriend95, Anek, Botenlauben, SheWhoMustNotBeNamed, and JCU, I don't know why, but i always feel quite self-conscious when mentioning my interest in Belly Dance, so i thank you for the encouragement, and i am glad to know that some of you found the links helpful. (She does have videos for under-50s as well.)

Belly dancing is great. I do it too sometimes. I think especially for men that it has some connotations of sexuality so they stay away, but it is really just working on mobility and a different kind of coordination.
