      Notes:

I almost had to use up a recovery day for the Walkabout Challenge this day. I went to my local PP in the afternoon for a nature hike on the Marsh Trail. But I did not get very far. I took my new book, Newcomb's Wildflower Guide, with me to identify some of the flowers on the trail. There are a LOT of wildflowers on the Marsh Trail this time of year. So I only made it just over 1K into the trail before I had to turn around and head home. It was a glorious day for a hike, however, and I am enjoying the detective work of trying to ID all the species I'm observing in the park.

After dinner, I took Trudy out for her walk. Or tried to, at any rate. A few drops of rain were coming down as we started our walk, and we could hear thunder rumbling in the distance. Within about 5 minutes, however, the rain was pouring down. And the thunder was almost right on top of us. So we booked it back home. Better safe than sorry. The storm blew through quickly, however. So I was able to get out a bit later with Shelby for her walk and then took Trudy out again for a longer walk. So another late night for me. But both dogs got their proper walks and I logged 10K mileage in total throughout the day. (Which was good for Day 14 on the Walkabout Challenge--the shortest non-recovery day I had left open on the challenge grid.)

No Yoga Week workout this day because it was just too late (pushing 4AM) by the time I had finished my other work. So I'll need to double up on Saturday to finish in time.

For anyone who is interested, you can follow my species sightings from my nature hikes here: http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/rainbowdragon (I don't have my June 9th flowers added yet, but will try to get them up there soon.) If you're on iNaturalist and follow me there, I'll follow you back. I'd love to see what sorts of flora and fauna people in other parts of the world are finding out in their neighbourhoods.

How long do you sleep on average per night? With all these late nights it can't be much?

I asked myself the same question - 4am is 1.5hrs before my alarm rings in the morning

BusyBumbleBee sleep_twitch I sleep 8 hours a night. I (for the most part) set my own work schedule. So when I go to bed late, I get up late. I'm not short of sleep. But it would be healthier to actually be awake when the sun is up and sleeping at night. Also, there is a bunch of work I need to do outside at the moment which is not getting done because I cannot do it well in the dark (and some of it involves power tools which I cannot use after 11PM in any case), and afternoons right now are far too hot to be working outside. There are a bunch of reasons I need to get better at scheduling my time.

              Notes:

This completes "Yoga Week" for me. But I still have only done the one workout from "Dragon Week". Which makes me officially late for completing my ZOINKS Mandatory Challenge workouts. (Good thing I'm a unit leader and can give myself an extension!)

                      Notes:

Went to my local Provincial Park this morning to participate in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup. This required me to get up significantly earlier than I normally would have done, considering how late I got to bed the night before. After picking up trash on the beach for 2 hours, I stayed in the park for a nature hike. It was hot in the park but, as this park is on a peninsula which extends out into Lake Erie, it was significantly cooler there than in town where I live. I knew that once I returned home I would be stuck in the house until well after dark. So I did quite a long hike. Then, when things finally cooled off in the evening, I took the dogs for their walks. Total mileage was 18.77 km. Long hours in the sun, plus much hiking, plus the long day, meant I was pretty baked (literally and figuratively) by the end of it. So I did not do anything else this day other than hiking and my yoga practice (which was only the OYC this day, so short and easy for me). I had a great hike, however, and got some nice photos of butterflies, including a giant swallowtail which I had not had a chance to photograph before. My butterfly pics from this hike are available at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1&l=e4dd50a5f3

                                Notes:

Finally got back to my Dares this day. I did some catching up for the days I missed but then skipped the Multiplank Challenge again. I may do some more catching up this week to get back on track with my original schedule. But if I don't have time, I'm happy to just move forward with one day for each challenge each day from where I'm at now.

This was another scorcher of a day, so the only hiking I did was with my dogs, late in the evening. 6K in total mileage, which meant using up another recovery day on the Walkabout Challenge. I've 7 days in total left on this challenge grid now, and 6 of them are > 10K days. Don't know if I'll be able to finish in 7 days as I've got some extra things on my plate on Friday and Saturday of this week, plus there may be further weather issues. We'll have to see how this goes.

This day was my 1 year Anniversary of joining the Cody community. I have gained huge amounts of upper body strength since doing classes on Cody, have progressed a long way in my handstand training (I could not even kick up into a handstand against a wall a year ago), have achieved lift off in some new-to-me arm balances and progressed in others, and finally learned to enjoy backbends (after 20 years of hating them). More importantly, I found a supportive community at Cody and several instructors who I love. I had been doing a daily yoga asana practice for about 10 months before joining Cody, but most of that had been short, beginner level classes (Bad Yogi, Yoga with Adriene, DoYouYoga) and really just going through the motions. At Cody I found content that challenges me and that I love. It's where I finally felt that my yoga practice was back on track, and I'm stronger than ever now as a result. The first class I ever logged on Cody was FitFlow Day 1. It's a HIIT class. Not yoga. Though FitFlow does contain some yoga sequences, and it's the program that got me started back on the road to reclaiming my strength and athleticism and the ability to start doing more advanced yoga work. I repeated that class this day in honour of my Codyversary. It was much easier for me than the first time. (Even though I did the class fresh a year ago, but did it after completing most of my Dare work this time.) It's been a great year for me on my fitness journey, and I'm looking forward to many more in the years ahead.
