on again off again. regular rollercoaster. I have been dealing with a lot personally and mentally, but I am trying to find myself again. I have started a new program, which thankfully my insurance is covering for me for a year as a preventative. I hear it is similar to keto, but don't know enough about it(keto that is) to say that. Its called Betr, it is a health app with coaching. You have to log your meals by taking photos and sending them to your coach, and weigh everyday. The first month is done now and I have just started month 2. It is designed to be a sort of system cleanse so its pretty strict. No dairy, sugar, bread, pasta...even my meats and veggies were limited. You are supposed to only use organic meats and veggies. Anyways after the 1st month i was down 13 lbs. Now I am adding in workouts (thank you fiton app). Month 2 Betr starts adding in new foods slowly to see if you have any sensitivities to foods you may not have known about. I do feel better. I am more awake, and my overall mood is improving. I can feel the difference when I eat certain foods(when I don't eat like im supposed to). Its quite the change for me and i wasn't convinced i was really ready for it, but so far i have stuck with it pretty well, except thanksgiving, of course...i let myself enjoy that. Hope everyone is doing well and had a good holiday.

Hi Trbat! It's good to hear from you and see you finding ways to get back on track. That diet does sound super strict--but if you're able to stick with it and it's helping you, that's great. What sorts of things are you doing workout wise? Will you be joining in on any of DAREBEE's Fitstivities?

I am currently using an app called FitOn. Its completely free, so that works for me It basically works your whole body and adds in weight training with cardio in intervals. There is quite a bit of yoga and some barre involved as well.

I can totally participate in the snowball fight, the advent calendar is a bit much for me right now i think...I'm interested in seeing details of the Daretree, I know I made the tree last year, but I don't remember much about it. Maybe I will do Fit Christmas.... try and earn me a quick winter badge.

I noticed you didn't have your days in a row badge so I backtracked to see what happened, congrats on reaching 4 consecutive years of yoga! Impressive! Glad to see you are changing things up to get back on track yourself. I loved your drawings and pictures as always. Most of my picture files are too large to share, i don't have a knack for computers unfortunately lol

Resizing an image file is super easy and can be done with any graphics editing software. I don't know what OS you use. If it's Windows, just right-click on the image filename and select "Edit". I think that will open the file in Paint (if you haven't taught your system to use something more advanced). In Paint, select "Resize". I usually go with 640 x 480 pixels to make a file small enough for the Hive to accept it. Then make sure to save it under a new filename (so you don't overwrite your original).

i guess ill try and get back into the habit of logging workouts. I started my healthy living make over the first week of Nov. I weighed 202 at the start and am now down to 189. Thanksgiving was a bit of a hiccup, but no biggie to me, I gained a little and then lost again. I started adding in workouts about 3 weeks ago using the FitOn app. I like that it is cardio with weights and yoga, barre, dance, body weight exercises. There is a variety which is nice. I get bored quickly. I don't really like the repetitive interval training, which they do as well, usually its something i have a hard time doing and get upset that i am going to have to do it again lol. Anyways, I had done the workouts for 3 consecutive days, which I am not sure why it isn't splitting them up better, it had me doing another workout last night! I decided to push that one off a day and go out and walk instead as the day wasn't to cold. I ended up walking around 5 miles in an hours time, not bad I think. I need to remember to start my runtastic app to track my actual distance and speed, because now that I think about it, 5 miles seems unlikely even if it was a brisk walk, it may have been closer to 4...oh well, live and learn, right?

If you remember where you went, you could measure your route using Google Maps.

4 miles/hour is my walking pace on relatively flat pavement if I am actually trying to get somewhere (i.e.: not stopping to photograph wildlife or take a meditative walk in the woods) and by myself (most humans are unable to keep pace with me at this speed). Walking 5 miles in an hour would definitely require skill in the discipline of race walking, not to mention a pretty decent level of athletic conditioning.

Rainbow Dragon I should know the miles well enough as I have ran and walked this road many times, I just didn't really think it through until I started to log it...i way overestimated now that I am breaking it down in my head lol. It was probably more like 3 - 3 1/2 miles, my road is very hilly, and I made sure to incorporate just a tiny bit of my hell hill to get that good steep incline in. I am most certainly no race walkerbut i am comfortable at a 3.5 - 4 mph pace

3 - 3.5 mph is about right for a brisk walk for an adult human with a decent conditioning base on hilly terrain (or a reasonably ambulatory but less-conditioned human on flat terrain). 3.5 - 4 mph is well-conditioned human on flattish terrain territory. Elite racewalkers can go much faster. (All of the folks on that list are "walking" 20K at a faster pace than my personal PR for running 10K. That's pretty freaking fast!)
