Today I tried „Pabellon Criollo“. Thanks Sólveig I hope I did it right, at least it looks right. Some steps in preparation and cooking I will adapt in the future, but for the first try, I am really happy so far. Very delicious.
Wish you all a great start in your week my bees. Now: coffee, a good book, Netflix, perhaps a beer later on, what else to wish for ...
Ah, Aligot... So good when done with good products! What kind of meat did you eat it with (the brown parts) ? I like it with a good smoked sausage... Diot is often recommended.

Aligot is always a pleasure Normally I would add a nice sausage as well, especially a boudin ... I love the latter but due to corona, grocery shopping and things to use up at home, I went for simple ground-beef-patties. It was very spontaneous today, originally I would have made a Truffade ... so, perhaps tomorrows food-porn-picture ... Oh boy, I need to go to work again, I spent definitely too much time in the kitchen lately ...
I am still a book-devourer, but I have to confess that 2020 was not quite my personal book-year, though. Hopefully 2021 will be more „readable“
That´s quite a good question. Have to think about it more closely, though. But to give you nonetheless a quick reply:
I think you mean the Cato & Macro series by Scarrow? If so, this was definitely quite a read, and I really enjoyed the series, well, still do, the last book is still unread on my evergrowing book-pile.
It is also a difference if you are looking for „historical“ or „historical fiction“ books? What are you looking for exactly? What era?
So, because I don’t know, I just write some authors down which came to my mind right now.
If you like Scarrow (historical fiction), you will probably also like Simon Turney as well. He has a few series to choose from. (ottoman cycle, romans, etc.)
Robert Graves you already mentioned. But I have to say, the only books I read by him is the Claudius series.
One of my all-time-fav-authors is Christian G. Cameron. He writes „historical fiction“. And because he does reenactment and some stuff, he knows what he writes. He has some series in the greek areas, if this is something you like. For me personally, I really enjoyed the „Tom Swan series“ and the „chivalry series“ - well, not the roman area if this is what you are looking for, though. But nonetheless, a recommendation. He also writes interesting fantasy under the name of „Miles Cameron“.
Adrian Goldsworthy is also an author to look after! The same goes for R.W. Peake, Roger Crowley, Mike Duncan, Michael Jones, Robert Harris (cicero trilogy), etc.
Most authors are also available in german I think.
Sorry, there is still be more, but I think for the start this should suffice. if you like we can exchange further on this topic and I can think more deeply about it.
