Today I read somewhere in the hive about the "wim-hof-method" - I haven´t heard it before. It sounds quite interesting - a topic which I will investigate further. Long story short - this gave me the idea to start a small cold-shower-challenge. First for 7 days ... bah, forget it, lets make 2 weeks.

well, I have to confess, the shower adjustment was not 100 percent on the cold side - but it felt like an icecube nonetheless - I think I can go further and longer - and will definitely try that in the upcoming days as well (lets try to go to 100%). The interesting thing is, I felt more refreshed afterwards then with a hot shower. of course, the first minute is one hell of a job but then the body adjusts itself and it feels pleasant. After the shower my body feels even warm - amazing indeed. Will give it some further days and will see if this is something for me and my body.

and now: waiting for the NASA

Good luck with the cold showers, last time I tried it I got soooo sick. On the up side it did help; you know how they say that people with better mental endurance can tolerate cold for longer, I thought I'd try it from the other end... it did improve things.

TheLibrarian good for many things but shit for flexibility... one can't have it all at once

Why? that´s unfair - and in addition I am stubborn bee as well - in the end I will bend my body to my will

But joke aside: why? isn´t flexibility a part of stretching, fascia-training and also can improve regardless of hot and cold? or have you made other experiences?

Gymnasts, ballet dancers, most martial artist that use their legs a lot avoid cold. It makes you stiff. Don't know how much is validated by science (though you can find a study to validate anything in the field of health and wellness...like test run with 5 guys stiff like rods and they didn't worsen with a cold shower protocol...) but fact is flexible people that use their flexibility a lot for active movement avoid cold....

xingyiquan will let you know how I feel after an amount of time and if I experience some stiffness - perhaps I will transform into a mighty-robot ...

joke aside: thx for the warning - looking forward to this kind of experience with the cold - combined with my training and cool-down-routine which involves a lot of fascia training and stretching and some breathing / meditation techniques or perhaps a combination of both, hot and cold well, lets see, lots of options and stuff to think about ... let´s go and conquer the world.

no-sugar-challenge went quite good - we baked a nice "Honiglebkuchen" and as the name suggests we used honey (and there even much less then the recipe suggests) instead of industrial sugar - so you see, no problem

program: so far, so good, strength is returning one step at a time ... keep going ...

cold-shower: well, what to say ... they are cold ... wet ... and yes, I totally forgot ... cold.

                      Good night bees

Not as long as some German compound words, but no less of a tongue twister. Why do you guys do that to yourselves and then inflict these words on the world? Just keep it simple, like "schnitzel". >.>

wjs oh you are mistaken ... it is simple ... simply delicious

cold-shower: still working my way up ... or down ... depending on your perspective because I read that it is essential to grant the body time to adapt - meaning: start with a hot shower, and work your way into the cold direction - one step at a time - works fine for me - I even got further then yesterday - that shows me I am on the right path - perhaps tomorrow is the day of days were I reach the end? lets see - because cold is your warm friend, right?

IronBorn is really great - since the last round of Ironborn I also raised the weights, because it felt right. I see my body responding well to the program and the routine and the strength is returning - my shoulder-pain is still present, but lesser day by day - that also shows me that I am on the right track - and my cool-down and posture training is working as well, lets keep going my bees.

wjs still have some "Honiglebkuchen" left. Today I read my mails (yes, it happens from time to time ) and you have to know that I subscribed to the owad newsletter. It is a newsletter were you learn "one word a day" in english. well, doesn´t matter really, long story short. Because of that I thought: give wjs another german-word for the day - and not in high-german (that would be too easy) Don´t worry, only today because the word fits quite well with Honiglebkuchen Because we choose the right recipe, our "honiglebkuchen" today was still very delicious and not "as hard as" our traditional hessian ... - and now, here comes the word: "Haddekuchen" Greetings from Frankfurt wjs

Oh, and today is "Bergfest" again - I almost forget it if sleep_twitch hadn´t reminded me today in another check-in - so, enjoy yourself and happy celebrating

Gingerbread is one of my favorites. This Haddekuchen sounds pretty tasty.

I'd be interested in a word a day in German, Librarian. I find language interesting even though I can't speak anything other than English with any fluency.

There's a whole world of theory around cold showers (including some safety warnings for some people!). I do it when I remember, but only the starting-warm-finishing-cold version - I think it's called a James Bond Shower by those in the know (there is also a Navy Shower iirc) - and I do find it very invigorating - I think it's supposed to be good for your skin and your hair too. I think the water here isn't really that cold though; did it in Belgium while staying there and had a very different experience!
