    Let's try this again....

Hey all, I'm back. I'm settled into Boy Scout camp where I'll be for the next few weeks before shipping off to a remote location with very little ties to the outside world.
I was a bit overzealous last time, so I'm going to tone it down a bit. Right now, I'm going to focus on doing ten pushups in the morning when I wake up, mostly likely after my shower when I've got a little bit more energy. I'll also focus on not eating too much, which might be hard because I'm an assistant cook, but so far I haven't been eating more than one serving of things and not really that much, except today I had a big breakfast.

So we'll see how this goes.

It's been 4 days I believe since last posting. Pushups have been going well, but it's a good thing I posted this morning, because I almost forgot to do them. Boss said we didn't have to come into work until an hour later than usual, so my routine went kaput a little bit.

I went up the Archery range here at camp to see what it was like, and the hike up the hill and stairs of everlasting breathlessness was intense. Shot 6 or 7 rounds of about 20 arrows--enough to give me a blister on a finger-- and took the scenic route back to the kitchen.

After two years of sitting in a chair, I'm using core muscles I forgot how to use so my lower back is all tense and aching. I'll get back my youthfulness sometime.

Today I hiked up a mountain. That was definitely a workout. There were a couple times where I had to exert a lot of effort to get up a particular part of the trail that left me breathless. But getting to the top was worth the effort. The pictures are of part of the view I witnessed.

I forgot to mention that the aforementioned "top" was not the top of the mountain but the possible top of the trail. As my hiking buddy and I were getting down off the ledge, we noticed more trail going up, so we weren't sure if we had even gone far enough.

Almost forgot my 10 pushups today, but luckily remembered before dinner.

man, forget pushups. Every dang day is a workout here. I was dead after serving lunch. I get up at 5:15am, go into the kitchen about 6am and work til about 1:30 or 2:00 sometimes 3pm. and get a 2 hour break until work again at 4pm for another 3 to 4 hours. It's a lot of upper body work, but it's also alot of lower body work because of all the walking and standing.

So it's been busy this weeks. Arms and legs are getting a work out being in the kitchen and I arm wrestled a power lifter at the beginning of the week. He almost had my arm to the table, but i managed to hold him until he gave up. He wants a rematch naturally.

I trained a little for that bu carrying around a decent sized rock doing some curls, holds, and just gripping it. Good stuff

well, I must say, my arms have certainly been getting a work out this week. too bad it's over. And of course, on the last full day, my body catches up and nothing is very sore anymore. Still a little tired though. We had taco salad the other day and I apent 2 hours chopping lettuce, boy was I exasperated.

Next week is a week off. I'm going to sleep in and attempt to dinish writing my book. I got it situated on Google docs so I can work on it from anywhere as long as I have internet. I just have to not be so meticulous about it.

This week is rest week and sleep week. Everyone is dang near wiped out and just wanting to chillax before we head up to our Denali camp next Monday.

Since most of us are from out of state, there are some touristy things planned for us, a few of which involve hiking so, that'll be some moving around.

BigGirl, a rematch never happened. I expected him to come up to me and ask me about it, but he never did.

Today was the last day of touristy things and I summitted a mountain. It was the lowest of three peaks. Tomorrow, Sunday is packing up and preparing for our drive to our Denali camp where we will be staying for two weeks. I might not be able to post anything or respond to anything during that time, but we'll see.

It is one week into Denali camp and I believe I have lost a little bit weight. Not much, but enough to start my idea engine going. I will say, my pants are a little looser. I have to walk to the kitchen every morning which is like a 1/4 mile. Not sure what that would be in km. If I forget anything or need to drop something off back at my tent, it's another hike there and back. Then there is the lifting of heavy pots of food and walking all around the building which leaves me pretty pooped by the end of the day. So, that's my working out for now.

We're on break right now, chillaxing at a local vacation lodge for the rest of the afternoon and evening and it is glorious. Got a beautiful view of the Alaska Range and Denali.

Camp is now over for the season and some of the out-of-staters are staying at the main camp until they have to leave for their flights home. Me, I'm stayin'. I'm gonna meet up with a family I met when I moved up here and go from there. A regular exercise schedule is gonna have to wait for a little bit longer.

Here I go again on my own...

Everyone who was on camp staff has officially left the premises and I am here because I don't have a place to live just yet.

Yesterday I did the daily dare and got two exercises into the Workout of the Day before I realized that my legs haven't quite recovered from all the hiking this summer. So, I'm going to look for some things I can do with my upper body. Maybe some punch cardio or pushup variations or something so I can stay active in this beautiful place.

Well, just been doing daily dares recently. But hey, at least I'm doing something. Nothing else to really report. Ate McDonald's for the first time in 2 months the other day and it actually tasted disgusting. I had my usual sandwich and it didn't taste right. Had a Big Mac a couple days later and it didn't taste right either. The fries even tasted a little off. I now have no desire to eat at McDonald's save for breakfast, if I need to.

well aerochic, job hunting. There are plenty of opportunities up here, it's just a matter of finding something that fits my skill set. I applied for a technical analyst position at a hospital, so I'm waiting to hear back from that.

I managed to secure myself a vehicle so I don't have to beg the camp ranger for rides into town.

Once I do get employed, then I can start finding a place to rent away from camp.
