    Workouts after meals

How long should someone wait after eating to workout?

Your body diverts some blood flow to your stomach when digesting, but typically this is within the range of what your body is equipped to handle, depending of course on what you eat.

I generally structure my day to eat my biggest meal at lunch, so that later I can exercise pretty much whenever I want. Usually for supper I will have a sandwich. I would say for a sandwich that I would wait an hour, for a medium sized meal about 2 hours and for a huge feast maybe longer (4+ hours or just skip the workout that day if it is too late). A lot of it will come down to your physiology, so these are just general guidelines.

That honestly depends a lot on how you personally handle food and workouts.

Depending on your fitness level and stomach you could have lots ot trouble working out right after a meal or you could be fine. It also depends how big the meal was.

Personally I can work out just fine, even at high intensity, even after a bigger meal, because my stomach is made of steel.

Try it out and pay attention to your personal body.
