    Pull ups

Question about pull ups: do you go into a complete dead hang with straight arms after each single rep or do you stop a little earlier in a more active hang with arms a little bend? Thanks!

Arms can be straight, but you always keep the tension between your shoulderblades, you keep the shrug
or active hang. Even in a dead hang you should be active in that position, never "hang out"...

The movement is not stopped do the bottom in a standard pull up. The range of movement (ROM) must be always complete (i.e. arms straight).

There are execution that can be focused on work on sticky points. Thus, one can perform pull ups with a partial ROM e.g. from the bottom position to the half one, or can be perform pull ups with steady moment (bottom position, half position, upper the bar)

I don't fully stretch my arm, it always remains slightly bent to avoid putting too much stress on my elbows, i noticed that this way I avoid pain in the elbow joint

Man, the better part of the pullup-group beat me to this one. Feel free to join the Pull-Up Progress Group here, but never allow your shoulders to touch your ears.
