    Welcome to the HIVE !

The best way would be the one that works for you and how many times you plan to train. Some like to do them the same day, some like to separate them.
My personal preference is to alternate between strength and cardio focused weeks, training five times a week. One week will be strength on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and running Tuesday and Thursday; then switching them the following week. So, running on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and strength Tuesday and Thursday.

        Hi DorG ,

welcome back to the fitness-game! As Caius already mentioned it depends a lot on your personal preference and the available time you like to invest. Personally I put my emphasis on running/cycling and add calisthenics to it. So I try to run or cycle three, four and sometimes five times a week (around 30 to 40 minutes) and finish with a workout - most of the time with a combat-workout. For me the cardio-part before a workout is also a warm-up for me (and walking the dog and doing cardio at the same time!). I need that not only for the flexibility of my muscles but also to get in the mood for working out. I always appreciate that after a hard day to leave all the stress behind. I kept that routine since my mandatory service in the austrian army when we did it that way: first part running, second part calisthenics. It works best for me. I am curious which design you will keep in the future ... much fun, stay healthy and fit!

HuskyDog thanks for the advice, for now I am using the 30 Days of Change to mix running with calisthenics, In addition I also started the Total Abs Program and I try to do sets of pull ups in the morning noon and evening, I feel the 30 Days of Change doesn't have as many strength exercises as I would like so I'm currently working on a way to add more strength exercises to my workouts (and not only pull ups).
When I'm done with these Programs I will use youradvice to build a more permanent plan. Thanks again for the great advice!
