I had a failed spinal fusion 10 years ago, so I'm fully aware of restrictions and modifications. Good ab exercises she may tolerate better are planks (all variations), hundreds, flutter kicks, leg scissors, leg raises and chair cycling...only if she is medically cleared to exercise though!

A substitute for crunch can be dead bug.

In genera considering the "problem", other options for core training are isometric exercises (i.e. planks)

    Spinal Fusion

Are there alternatives to crunches or sitting twists that don't involve bending the back? My gf's spine is fused and can't do any of those exercises.
