    Workouts API

    Hi everybody!

I was wondering if is there any kind of API* where i can get all the workouts DAREBEE currently have and use it to build some kind of app to log all my workouts?
I'm learning to code and was thinking of building a personal app to log some workouts.

Thanks, i love the philosophy of the program.

    * For those who don't know, an API is like a url where you can ask for data, with certain parameters, and it returns the elements that meets those parameters, in this case would be workouts, challenges, etc.

If you check the source code of this URL: https://darebee.com/filter

Line 120 looks like it has a JSON encoded array of all the workouts. You could likely fetch and parse that (would probably want to cache it and refresh it when you needed to).

Also check out https://darebee.com/hive/codes (the darebee URLs are very consistent so if you know a workout name you can construct a link to it without making any external requests).

DISCLAIMER: I don't work for darebee; I made a discord bot that checks for workout of the day and daily challenge to make a pinned post in unofficial hive discord. Setting a timer (and caching requested data) to avoid spamming the site with requests from code is polite. Non-commercial personal use of the data should be okay but I don't have any authority to say so officially. Tagging Ryuji.

marto112 you cannot use any of the Darebee workouts in any kind of app. We take action the moment any infringement of copyright is made. And oneironaut our terms of use: https://darebee.com/terms-of-use.html are crystal-clear about this. I find it deeply disappointing that someone who's been here all this time is unaware of it.

I wouldn't think that would exclude personal tools that aren't published for distribution. Perhaps I misread and I hope my bot grabbing the WOD and DD link for the unofficial discord is ok.

oneironaut we do not permit the use of our workouts and content in any app, irrespective of use which is why we state: "None of our materials can be used as part of a product (even if it's free) e.g., ebooks, books or mobile apps." That includes those made for personal use and there are legal reasons for that. We examined the way WOD works and it's in essence another website which is use we do permit. This is not what marto112 is proposing however. The answer to an app, personal or otherwise is, unfortunately, no.

@Damer: I appreciate the clarification. I've been familiar with CC licensing but less frequently see the no derivatives variety and honestly hadn't seen the official terms before today. The distinction is clear to me now though and makes sense for protecting DAREBEE's reputation.

Damer Just want to say thanks for the clarification, although I don't think I will be using Darebee materials in any way that would violate the license.

It's just that I personally have great respect for copyright and intellectual properties, so I want to do something to reinforce your message.

Ok, thank you for the response, it is clear now.
I was just looking for a training log app with DAREBEE workouts, challenges and DDs.

marto112 I understand. Unfortunately there are many more people prepared to abuse our flexibility and goodwill than there should be which is why we have been forced to take such an uncompromising approach to this issue. Everything that hurts us ends up hurting our efforts to provide the best possible material and experience to you, as a DAREBEE user. We place the people who come here above everything else so we've had to be fairly vigilant on this. I am really sorry.
