    My 91 Year Old Dad

In March my 2 brothers & I are taking our 91 year old Dad to Cuba. This time last year I flew home to say good bye. The last part of 2017 & first third of 2018 was really up & down. Best thing that happened was a doctor who prescribed exercise!! Dad attended a rehab clinic at the local hospital; where he started doing Body weight exercises - Wall Push-Ups, Squats, etc. He really gained strength & joy for life. Every time dad thought the nurses were pushing him too hard, he would hear them say to some 70 or 80 year old "look at Bill, he's 90".. Dad would get pumped & push even harder. Exercise, no matter what level/exertion really does work!

That is amazing. My old relatives are not nearly as active and energetic as your dad. Taking a trip to Cuba? For them going out with their church groups to play some cards is an epic adventure.

One day I hope to be 91 flexing for all the young nurses (cause lets face it at 91 all the nurses are young)

PETERMORRIS966 sorry, I've only just seen this.

Your dad reminds me of my wife's grandad who was still the best dancer on the planet well into his 80s (sadly he died last week aged 92).

                PART II:
We took dad to Cuba March 5 -12. We all had an awesome time. Dad, at 91 was treated as a superstar. While on the flight from Toronto to Varadero dad stood up in the aisle of the plane doing squats, Then used the arm rests to do modified dips. He was complaining his legs were numb & he needed to move. Passengers & flight crew were amazed. Most days at the resort, dad would walk between 1 - 1.5 km. I know this does not sound like much, but he was using his walker. Staff & other quests just couldn't believe dad was 91 & still had the health to travel & be so active.
All of this was possible because a year ago, a doctor prescribed exercise. And dad bought into the program & continues to exercise to this day.
                There's hope for me yet!
Ladies & gentlemen; exercise at whatever age & no matter the intensity does work.

Thank you very much for sharing this with us, it's a huge motivation, I hope I'll get to that age and beyond and still be so active.
