Sit on the floor with your knees bent, feet flat and your torso leaned back until your abs engage. Bring your hands together in front of your chest and rotate your torso to one side, letting your hands travel toward the floor beside your hip, then rotate all the way across to the other side. Turn from the waist, not the arms - your shoulders and hands are only reporting what your obliques are doing.
Works: obliques, abs, hip flexors
Breathing: Exhale as you twist to each side, inhale as you pass through center.
Common Mistakes: Swinging the arms side to side while the torso barely turns, rounding the back into a slump, and speeding up until the twists become momentum instead of muscle.
Make Easier: Sit up taller to reduce the lean, shorten the rotation, or start with standing Twists to groove the movement first.
Make Harder: Lift your feet off the floor and balance on your sit bones as you twist, slow every rotation down, or move on to Sitting Punches to hold the lean under fire.
