Stand with your feet pressed together, hands on your hips. Keeping your feet glued to each other as one unit, hop side to side over an imaginary line - like a skier working slalom gates. Land on the balls of both feet at once, knees bending together to absorb the landing, and bounce straight into the next hop. Keeping the feet locked together makes your ankles, knees, and hips work as a single spring, which is exactly the point.
Works: calves, quads, glutes, hip abductors
Breathing: Steady and rhythmic, one breath cycle every couple of hops.
Common Mistakes: Letting the feet drift apart mid-air, landing on one foot a beat before the other, and twisting the torso side to side with the hops.
Make Easier: Shrink the hop to barely clearing the line, or loosen the feet with regular Hops: Side-to-Side first.
Make Harder: Hop further and faster over the line, or move on to Side-to-Side Jumps or Toe Tap Hops.
