Take a push-up position but bring your hands in close together, directly under your chest, and keep your body in a rigid straight line from head to heels. Lower yourself until your chest nearly touches your hands, keeping your elbows tucked in tight so they brush along your ribs, then press back up to full extension. The narrow hand position shifts the load onto your triceps - expect fewer reps than your regular push-ups, and that's the point.
Works: triceps, chest, shoulders, core
Breathing: Inhale on the way down, exhale as you press up.
Common Mistakes: Flaring the elbows out to the sides and turning it back into a regular push-up, sagging through the hips, and cutting the range short instead of lowering all the way.
Make Easier: Drop to your knees keeping the same hand position and body line, or master regular Push-Ups first and narrow your grip gradually over time.
Make Harder: Slow the lowering to a three-count and pause at the bottom, or move on to Push-Ups - Dragon or Push-Ups - Stacked.
