Ape Hops - What it Works
Focus: Lowerbody
Type: Metcon
Difficulty: level 3 of 5

Drop into a deep squat and place both hands on the floor a stride's length in front of you. Shift your weight onto your hands, then hop both feet forward to land just behind them, back in your squat. Reach your hands forward again and keep traveling in this hands-then-feet rhythm, staying low the whole way - the movement should feel springy and animal-like, not upright.

Works: quads, glutes, calves, shoulders, core

Breathing: Exhale as your feet hop forward, inhale as you reach your hands out for the next stride.

Common Mistakes: Standing up between hops instead of staying in the squat, landing heavily on stiff legs, and placing the hands too close to the feet so each stride barely moves you.

Make Easier: Step your feet forward one at a time instead of hopping, take shorter strides, or let your hips ride higher. Short on space? Two strides out, turn, two strides back works just as well.

Make Harder: Lengthen each hop and pick up the pace, or move on to Jump Knee-Tucks or Army Crawl for more explosive floor work.

One of my FAVORITE websites EVER!!! I think this site has elite ball knowledge and it's 100% in my favorites right now.

I love the pictures, the variety, the amount of time it takes to complete a workout and how you can mix and match if you have a lot of energy or only repeat 3 times if you don’t feel like exercising. The website is awesome and I recommend it whenever I talk about fitness with other people. I cannot thank Darebee enough for how much this project has helped me in having a solid exercise routine and how to deal with exercise when tired, injured or when I don’t have much time.

I also love the concept of "exercise of the day". This website is just awesome. I came to know this website around 2025 since than it has been bookmarked in my browser. I request the developers to please launch the mobile app. I would absolutely love to see it's app on the app Store.
