Zen Mode Workout - complete workout card with exercises and reps
DAREBEE Workout: What it Works
Focus: Fullbody
Type: Yoga
Difficulty: level 2 of 5

Zen Mode is a seated stretching sequence for switching off the noise: nine poses, each held for 30 seconds, then the full sequence repeated on the other side. It lives almost entirely on the floor in a cross-legged seat - overhead reaches with palms together, a seated neck tilt, a long side reach, seated twists with the leg crossed over, a straight-leg twist variation, a folded forward butterfly, and a lying twist to finish. The overhead reach returns three times, like a bell rung between verses.

The sequence is built like a sitting meditation that happens to stretch: the recurring prayer-hands reach is home base, and each departure from it visits one direction of movement before returning - lateral flexion in the neck tilt and side reach, rotation in the seated and lying twists, forward flexion in the butterfly fold. That return structure matters more than it looks; coming back to the same simple shape after each stretch gives the nervous system a reference point, the same way returning to the breath anchors a meditation. The twists are the deep work here, wringing rotation through a spine that spends its days facing one direction, and doing the entire sequence again on the other side is not admin - the asymmetric poses are the ones untying the deepest knots, and balance is the whole aesthetic.

Sit tall on your sit bones through every seated pose - slouching converts stretches into shapes. Let the neck tilt work by weight alone, no pulling. Reach the side stretch up and over without collapsing forward. In every twist, lengthen the spine on the inhale and rotate a little further on the exhale, keeping both hips grounded. The 30 seconds belong to slow breaths; count those, not the clock.

Zen mode is not doing nothing. It is doing one thing at a time, 30 seconds each, both sides, no notifications.

Make it Harder: That is the noise talking - but if you want more depth, lengthen each hold to 45 seconds and slow the breathing further.

Make it Easier: Sit on a folded blanket to lift the hips and shorten holds to 20 seconds.

Grateful for your promise in keeping this site accessible and free for people of all fitness levels & goals around the world. Found Darebee some time years ago and used to just save the workouts and then forget about them somewhere in my documents & to do later lists 😅 but coming back to the site this year I loved the organised/simple layout & navigation of the site with full workout video at bottom to see proper form and notes to make things easier or harder depending on your fitness/energy aswell as an extensive exercise library with joint friendly alternatives. I found it much easier to track/check off completed workouts & days on program/plan on dashboard, was more likely to remember & do it + advanced filter made it quick to find a doable workout. As a tiny way to support this site I made account and use the site exclusively for exercises now, will look to donate when I can 🙏🏽 and would recommend it to all I talk to regarding fitness. Thank you Darebee team for the great job you've all done here and keep up the good work. Blessings to you all.
