DAREBEE Workout: What it Works
Focus: Upperbody
Type: Strength
Difficulty: level 5 of 5

Tectonic is an upper body workout named for forces that reshape landscapes, and it earns the geology - a pull-up bar section of layered combination work, followed by three push-up variations that shift your bodyweight from side to side like the plates the title promises. This is one of the rare Darebee workouts that requires equipment: a bar, and a grip willing to negotiate with it.

The bar section is the epicenter. The opening combination - a pull-up, then a knee-in, then a 5-count hold at the top, all as one rep - stacks three demands into a single movement: pulling strength, core compression and isometric endurance, with the 4+ inviting as many quality reps as you can supply. Straight knee-ins follow, isolating the hanging core work on grip that has already been taxed. Then the workout descends to the floor, where the push-up variations shift laterally: archer push-ups lower you toward one straightened arm, side-to-side push-ups travel between hand positions, and staggered push-ups offset the hands so each side works at a different angle. Every variation loads one arm more than the other - pressure applied unevenly, which is how plates move and chests grow.

On the bar, pull your chest toward your hands rather than your chin over the bar, and make the 5-count holds honest. Keep the knee-ins slow enough that your legs rise without swinging. In every push-up variation, control the shifted descent - the loaded-side shoulder should track smoothly, and the temptation to bounce between sides is the one to resist.

Continents move a few centimeters a year. Applied consistently, so does everything else - that is the whole theory.

Make it Harder: Extend the top holds to a 10-count.

Make it Easier: Use a chair-assisted pull-up and do the push-up variations from your knees.

I have always wanted to find a place that would meet me at my level wherever I am, encourage me to stay motivated, fit in my busy schedule, not require a gym membership, offer variety, be fun, help me feel like part of a team without leaving my house, and still be affordable. That has been my dream. So Darebee.com makes my dream a reality. It does all that and more. I would highly, highly recommend this site to absolutely anyone.

BUT what I think is at least as great is the design and functionality of the website. It is just so clean and well organized. I love the filter functions, they work very well and you can find exactly what you need in seconds. Also the bookmark feature is just awesome! The way you can organize the bookmarks, create different collections and sort them so efficiently is very thoughtful and way better than I have seen it on many bigger platforms. I think it is just an example where one can see that the Darebee team not only strives to create the best workouts but for excellence on every level. Tank you! You are doing an awesome job!

After more than a decade, and after trying countless websites and apps, it's still my number one choice for workout plans and creative exercise inspiration. Unlike other apps and sites, the full experience is available regardless of ability to pay; even when the job market has been tough, Darebee has been there with accessible, effective workouts to help keep me on track when other obstacles crop up. Whether it's a full workout, or a little challenge to supplement other routines, Darebee has ALWAYS had me covered. The wide variety of skill levels available means that I can find something, even if injured, tired, or simply out of practice. Need to work on something specific? Pick a challenge for it. Injured? Rehab workouts and exercise alternatives abound. Not sure how to use all those dumbbells you somehow acquired over the years? No problem--you can find workouts with that equipment. In conclusion: Darebee is pretty rad; an awesome, effective resource, that anybody who needs a bit of sweat and strength in their lives can appreciate. Thanks to the Darebee team for their dedication, hard work, and commitment!
