Shaolin Morning Flow Workout - complete workout card with exercises and reps
DAREBEE Workout: What it Works
Focus: Fullbody
Type: Stretching
Difficulty: level 1 of 5

Shaolin Morning Flow is a wake-up mobility routine borrowed in spirit from the monks who have been solving the same problem for fifteen centuries: how to bring a body from sleep to readiness without violence. Hops on the spot, arm circles, alternating chest expansions, twists, hip rotations, single hip rotations and leg swings - seven movements, 20 reps each, that shake the night off joint by joint. No poses, no strain, no incense required.

This one works as a single continuous flow rather than a leveled circuit: seven blocks of 20, performed in order, once through - though nothing stops a second lap. The sequence wakes the body in the order a body actually wants. Gentle hops start the circulation and shake out the ankles; arm circles and alternating chest expansions then open the shoulders and chest, the regions sleep folds shut. The middle of the flow rotates the spine with twists and loosens the hips two ways - both together, then one leg at a time drawing full circles. Leg swings finish by moving the hips through their largest dynamic range, front to back, the closing statement of a routine built entirely on the principle that morning stiffness is not a condition, just an unfinished conversation with your joints.

Keep the hops small and springy - centimeters, not inches, with soft knees. Sweep arm circles and chest expansions through a full, easy range at shoulder height. Let twists travel with relaxed arms rather than forced torque. Draw hip rotations as wide, smooth circles, and swing the legs from the hip with a tall standing posture, letting the range grow rep by rep instead of demanding it from rep one.

The monks rise, move and are ready before the sun clears the mountains. Your version takes five minutes and works in an apartment.

Make it Harder: Run the entire flow twice through without pausing.

Make it Easier: Halve every block to 10 and swap the hops for march steps.

Grateful for your promise in keeping this site accessible and free for people of all fitness levels & goals around the world. Found Darebee some time years ago and used to just save the workouts and then forget about them somewhere in my documents & to do later lists 😅 but coming back to the site this year I loved the organised/simple layout & navigation of the site with full workout video at bottom to see proper form and notes to make things easier or harder depending on your fitness/energy aswell as an extensive exercise library with joint friendly alternatives. I found it much easier to track/check off completed workouts & days on program/plan on dashboard, was more likely to remember & do it + advanced filter made it quick to find a doable workout. As a tiny way to support this site I made account and use the site exclusively for exercises now, will look to donate when I can 🙏🏽 and would recommend it to all I talk to regarding fitness. Thank you Darebee team for the great job you've all done here and keep up the good work. Blessings to you all.
