DAREBEE Workout: What it Works
Focus: Fullbody
Type: Strength
Difficulty: level 3 of 5

Deep Core is a strength and tone workout that goes after the muscles you can't flex in a mirror: the transverse abdominis, obliques, quadratus lumborum and spinal erectors that wrap your midsection like a natural weight belt. Plank crunches, side bridges, timed holds and back extensions work together here, and none of them are for show. This is the layer of muscle that decides how well you transfer force, guard your spine and stay upright when everything else is tired.

The circuit runs without rest between exercises and the sequencing is deliberate. Plank crunches load each side separately, with a 10-count elbow plank wedged between them so your core never gets to fully relax between left and right. The same pattern repeats with side bridges: dynamic work on one side, an isometric hold, dynamic work on the other. Alternating movement with holds keeps the deep stabilizers under near-continuous tension, which is exactly what they respond to. The 5 back extensions at the end balance all that anterior work by waking up the posterior chain, so you finish with a midsection trained in the round rather than just from the front.

In your planks, keep hips level with your shoulders - no sagging, no tenting. On plank crunches, drive the knee toward the elbow with control instead of momentum, and keep your hips from swinging open. In side bridges, stack shoulders over elbow and lift from the hip, creating one straight line from head to feet. For back extensions, lift chest and thighs together using your lower back and glutes, and lower down slowly - the descent is half the exercise.

Anyone can train the abs they can see. This one trains the core you can trust.

Make it Harder: Double every hold to a 20-count.

Make it Easier: Drop the side bridges to your knees, keeping hips stacked and lifting from the bottom hip.

Grateful for your promise in keeping this site accessible and free for people of all fitness levels & goals around the world. Found Darebee some time years ago and used to just save the workouts and then forget about them somewhere in my documents & to do later lists 😅 but coming back to the site this year I loved the organised/simple layout & navigation of the site with full workout video at bottom to see proper form and notes to make things easier or harder depending on your fitness/energy aswell as an extensive exercise library with joint friendly alternatives. I found it much easier to track/check off completed workouts & days on program/plan on dashboard, was more likely to remember & do it + advanced filter made it quick to find a doable workout. As a tiny way to support this site I made account and use the site exclusively for exercises now, will look to donate when I can 🙏🏽 and would recommend it to all I talk to regarding fitness. Thank you Darebee team for the great job you've all done here and keep up the good work. Blessings to you all.
