DAREBEE Workout: What it Works
Focus: Fullbody
Type: Metcon
Difficulty: level 4 of 5

Aries is a cardio and strength circuit for the zodiac's ram - the sign that solves every problem by going straight through it: 10 high knees, 10 climbers, 10 more high knees, 6 power squats, 10 calf raises, 6 more power squats, and 2+ push-ups to finish. It opens at a run and never really slows down.

The circuit charges hard from the first second, which is pure Aries: high knees and climbers back to back put your heart rate at altitude before anything resembling strength work begins. Then the power squats arrive in two sets of 6 with calf raises wedged between - the calf raises are not a break, they are a different fight, loading the lower leg while your quads and glutes catch just enough breath to hit the second squat set properly. Power squats reward aggression: a fast, driven rise out of the bottom recruits more muscle than a polite one. The closing 2+ push-ups are an open-ended challenge flag planted at the end of the circuit - two is the entry fee, and a ram never pays just the entry fee.

Drive knees to hip height in high knees and stay on the balls of your feet. Keep hips low and level in climbers - the knee drive should come to your chest, not your chest dropping to meet it. In power squats, hit full depth with arms extended forward, then stand up like you mean it. Push-ups travel the full range, chest low, body in one line; every rep past two should look identical to the first.

The ram doesn't look for the gate. Head down, straight through - all sets, plus sign honored.

Make it Harder: Raise the push-up floor from 2+ to 6+.

Make it Easier: Slow the high knees to a march and do the push-ups against a wall or from your knees.

Grateful for your promise in keeping this site accessible and free for people of all fitness levels & goals around the world. Found Darebee some time years ago and used to just save the workouts and then forget about them somewhere in my documents & to do later lists 😅 but coming back to the site this year I loved the organised/simple layout & navigation of the site with full workout video at bottom to see proper form and notes to make things easier or harder depending on your fitness/energy aswell as an extensive exercise library with joint friendly alternatives. I found it much easier to track/check off completed workouts & days on program/plan on dashboard, was more likely to remember & do it + advanced filter made it quick to find a doable workout. As a tiny way to support this site I made account and use the site exclusively for exercises now, will look to donate when I can 🙏🏽 and would recommend it to all I talk to regarding fitness. Thank you Darebee team for the great job you've all done here and keep up the good work. Blessings to you all.

I found Darebee in 2014 and since then I’ve been using it on and off until 2024, when I decided to base all my workouts on Darebee alone. I love the pictures, the variety, the amount of time it takes to complete a workout and how you can mix and match if you have a lot of energy or only repeat 3 times if you don’t feel like exercising. The website is awesome and I recommend it whenever I talk about fitness with other people. I cannot thank Darebee enough for how much this project has helped me in having a solid exercise routine and how to deal with exercise when tired, injured or when I don’t have much time.
