5-Minute Jump Squats is an EMOM workout - every minute, on the minute - built around a single exercise and a merciless clock. Set a timer for 5 minutes. At the top of each minute, perform your jump squats: 5 at Level I, 7 at Level II, 10 at Level III. Whatever remains of the minute after your last landing is yours to rest. When the next minute starts, so do you. Five rounds, one movement, no negotiation.
The EMOM format has a built-in trap, and it is the reason this workout earns its keep in five minutes flat. Your rest is not fixed - it is whatever you don't spend working. Move through your reps crisply and you might bank 40 seconds of recovery; slow down as fatigue accumulates and your rest quietly shrinks, round after round, exactly when you need it most. The clock is indifferent and that indifference is the training effect: each round of jump squats starts less recovered than the last, teaching your legs to produce explosive power on incomplete rest. Jump squats themselves are as honest as plyometrics get - a full squat, a maximal drive, a landing that must be absorbed and converted into the next rep.
Sink to a genuine squat before every jump - depth first, then height, never the reverse. Drive up through the whole foot and land softly, knees tracking over toes, absorbing the impact back down into the next squat rather than landing stiff-legged. Keep the reps unhurried and identical: the format rewards clean consistency, not a frantic first round. Use every second of rest you earn and be standing ready when the minute turns over.
Five minutes on the clock, five appointments with the floor. Keep all of them.
Make it Harder: Extend the timer to 7 minutes and hold your rep count all the way through.
Make it Easier: Swap jump squats for fast bodyweight squats at the same reps per minute.
