Black Bean Mushroom Burgers

These burgers are low in saturated fat, and very low in cholesterol and sodium. They are also a good source of Protein, Thiamin, Folate, Pantothenic Acid, Magnesium and Phosphorus, and a very good source of Dietary Fiber, Copper, Manganese and Selenium.

INGREDIENTS 8oz (240g) cooked black beans or 1 can, drained
8oz (240g) mushrooms
3oz (100g) quick oats or ground oats
Makes 8 burgers 100 Calories per burger

We UsedShiitake mushrooms and ground oats.
Level UpAdd 1 teaspoon garlic powder, ½ tablespoon oregano, ½ tablespoon thyme, ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper, ⅛ teaspoon black pepper.

Instructions

1Add all the ingredients into a food processor and blend until combined.

2Split into 8 portions, transfer to a baking tray lined with baking paper and shape into patties.

3Bake in the oven (grill setting if possible) at 392°F (200°C) for 20 minutes. Allow to cool on the tray before serving.

Tips

  • Using canned beans: 15 ounces (425 grams) weight includes the liquid in the can. One can of beans drained yields 8oz (240g) of beans.
  • The burgers can be fried on a frying pan with oil. Be careful when flipping the patties as they are still soft while hot. For oil-free burgers use the oven method.
