    Remind Me To Never EVER eat Beans Again...

    So for the past 2 weeks I've been building up my consumption of beans. Its an affordable protein source for me.

    Its been going alright, with some mild digestive discomfort along the way.

    Yesterday I had my usual serving of beans, I don't eat breakfast so this was my first meal of the day (at noon). By 3pm, I started noticing something felt off. I started feeling nauseous, and had to lie down.

    Over the course of the afternoon, the feeling worsened to the sensation of a cement block being in my stomach. I lost my appetite swiftly. And could barely look at a piece of plain toast. I have tried all sorts of remedies, and while I didn't actually throw up, the feeling was a constant threat.

    It continued all through the night, until right now, where I'm on the bed typing this... I haven't eaten a thing, yet I still feel sick and as though there are bricks in my stomach, even though there is very obviously nothing in it. I mean, I last ate a cup of apparently poisonous, brown, kidney shaped flowerfoods.

    Beans... oh how ye have pleased my tastebuds...alas, ye have poisoned my body and must be thrown into the pits of oblivion...

              Those are even worse for me! I can barely eat 2 tablespoons before feeling sick. I thought fresh would be better, but obviously not. Blah.

                Nevetharine When I did a Vegan challenge I ate canned beans, lentils etc in water with no problem but wasn't a big fan.

                Peas are also fairly good for protein and I liked the canned marrow fat peas or British style mushy peas, peas come in many varieties.

                My theory is not to do limited diets, for me they seem to send the body out of whack. I eat what some call normal but on a very healthy side. I don't avoid sugar but don't use it in tea or coffee.

                2 tablespoons before feeling sick = something out of whack.

                  You know, the odd thing is, my body LOVES lentils and split peas. I make it very often for us - like thrice a week. Its a food I actually crave.

                  So yeah, but lentils are overall better tolerated by most bodies compared to beans for some reason.

                  I've also decided now to not limit anything. I mean, we eat very healthy overall. Very little processed food. I've never gone vegetarian to diet though, its basically just where I ended up because that's what I started craving. And, red meat is super expensive here.

                  Ah well. Lesson learnt. I'm better today - except for the near-constant sulfur burps. Yuck.

                    Have you tried "beanO" or other bonus-enzyme additives that you add to the first bite of bean-containing food? That often helps.

                    Also, I heard that RED Kidney beans need to be boiled for a certain amount of time to remove toxicity (in other words, more than a pre-soak is needed), but canned ones are ok.
