Tomorrow evening I will be donating blood. I try to do this every 8 weeks, or as often as I can. If you can donate at a local drive in your state or country, please consider it. This is another way to fight cancer and it will send positive vibes of healing and hope out into the hive!!!

I do plan to get some combat vs cancer tomorrow morning. Be on guard cancer!! 👊👊

Shikari Well done but, every 2 months? isn't that a bit much. I know I have to wait at least 4 months between donations and they recommend 6 months if you do it regularly.

I don't know how much regulations differ between countries, but here in Hungary two months have to pass between two donations, but you can donate only 4 times a year if you're a woman and 5 times if you're a man.

Not to worry! Red blood cells only function for about 3 months anyway, so the body is constantly producing more naturally.

I agree with you both Amirsh and Mianevem . I should have put a heavier emphasis on try. Three weeks ago, I was taking antibiotics for a sinus infection, so THEY WOULDN'T LET ME DONATE!! THE NERVE!!! lol 😅! So, it threw me off sched. That's life. But as long as I feel great and meet the hemoglobin ranges, I want to try my best.

Where I live, the Am RC says 56 days, or 8 weeks. The cells donated are replaced in 4-6 weeks, so the 2 extra weeks gives a margin. The max limit is 6x's per year. But, donation requirements probably vary from place to place.

I only donate whole blood. If you give "double RBCs" (aka power red), you have to wait 116 days between donations. On the other hand, platelets can be donated every 7 days or up to 24 x per year. Those also take up to 2 hours a pop. I did 1 successfully, then my vein kept spasming on the second donation at a year later and I could only donate 3/4 the amount.

TMI? Sorry, I could go on and on...

Anyway, I am not mentioning it as a challenge, or calling anyone out, or trying to put myself in a spotlight. I just offered it as something to consider. 😊

                      Plus: 0123 punches early today.

Thank you! Both for the educational side of this and for giving blood. On the long list of things that piss me off about having cancer, the fact that I can no longer give blood and I'm no longer an organ donor are actually higher than you might expect.
