    Roadrunners!

    Hello there!

In this thread we are working on running longer and/or faster

The rules are simple, Do as much running and/or Sprinting each week as you can (know your limits and do not overtrain) until the end of summer late August or early September. But most importantly have fun with your fellow hive members!

To measure your progress, have someone time your:
    • 40 yard dash
    • 100 yard sprint
    • mile time (if you can not run a mile see how fast you can walk one or lightly jog.)
    • 5 km (if you cannot run a 5k then you do not have to measure it)
If you are new to running I would suggest this ( https://darebee.com/running/from-wal...o-running.html ) workout before you run any of the distances, also be sure to warm up before you run!

Everyone who wants to join can just jump in but, please be sure to measure your times on the above distances!

Feel free to invite and add others.

By the end of august (there is no strict deadline) we will test ourselves again with the four benchmarks above. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Let the running begin!

Note: Please, please, PLEASE, if you never run or cannot run a mile, please talk to us to see how you can modify.

I like this idea a lot TheStorm
I'll see about getting my times done this week. This might actually get me "enjoying" doing my speed work every week

val.lavigne86 Great! I'll hopefully get mine in this week too.

I agree with you on that final statement

val.lavigne86 Who in the hive do you think would like this? I think maybe BlackButler may like it because he is trying to claim that marathon badge.

It does feels amazing after those workouts right?
The psyching up before and during is the toughest part. For me at least!

As for who else to tag I am not sure at the moment. I've been on a bit of a Hive hiatus, but I'll slap some tags once I finish my thread catch ups

If I remember to post I'll join in. I don't doing anything specific but I do run a lot. My current goal is 30 miles a week but it does vary depending on life.

Note: If you do not have an app that tracks distances I would try "Strava" (no this is not an advertisement )

TheStorm I've got Garmin, Strava, Charity Miles, Mapmyrun, and Zombie, Run! Most feed the other as Garmin is my main one but Charity Miles and Zombie, Run! have to be started up separately although I don't use them to track metrics so I'm not too worried.

Hmm, I was planning on upping my interval training ever since I was notified someone else nabbed one of my strava segment CRs

My 5k just means I need to push myself on parkruns instead of finding other people to bimble around as I slowly wake up. Hopefully the additional strength training will also lend a hand

ETA - all my running for club etc is done by kms and meters so not sure about converting tbh but will see. Will not be changing watch settings to suit this thread instead of club, of course

Since I have never run a 5 km my goals by the end of the summer will be to run a 5k and run a 10k... This thread is not limited to anyone who can't run very far (or fast) we are about getting better at running and fitness in general. to those of you who have never run a mile, see how fast you can walk a mile, or 400 meters or whatever you want to do. Now let's go run! (I'll get my times in hopefully by saturday)

Sorry guys! My times are going to be postponed... I have been sick for the past week and so I haven't been able to do much running. Hopefully I will be able to get my times in by the end of next week.

                              Cheers
